          Update 4/6/11

over the last few days i've been pretty lazy BUT, here we go with an update. No one here knows this but on xmas eve last year i broke my femur, nose, and eye sockets. i aired 50' off the edge of a cat track while snowboarding and landed my ass in a tree. then fell a good 20' to the ground. despite all of this i only gave myself a month to recover before i dove in around february. thats why this project has taken me so long. i can only work so long before my leg gets super tired and its time for TV.

i mounted the intercooler how i wanted and plumed my intake and all that goodness. when ever i get bored i find it helps to either paint something or install a shiny new part. i installed my rear drive shaft and 3" (shiny) stainless exhaust. i also painted my front drive shaft and some dust covers.

im buttoning up a few odds and ends in the engine bay before my computer stuff gets here. if i feel up to it ill finish up all of my front drive train.

          pics:

          fmic brackets

          pretty much

tight fit, but still a win

fuck this muffler. probably going to magnaflow soon

          Over and out:yawn:

how did you deal with the differences in the oil pressure relief valve? did you remember to swap intermediate shafts?

are you talking about the oil pump and how they dont meet up perfectly? mine was super close and it seemed like it fit tight so i called it good. ive looked around the internet and im not sure where the oil pressure relief valve is as i am not home now and cant look at my old block.

intermediate shaft being the 5 or 6 mm hex drive to the oil pump?

Nando if you post a pic id greatly appreciate it!

no, the gears that connect to the timing belt and oil pump. there's two peices. you won't get any oil pressure if you don't use the ix intermediate shaft.

did you remove the RWD pressure relief valve? the ix oil pump runs in reverse so I'd imagine you don't want to leave that in there.. unfortunately it leaves a big gaping hole. the ix pump has one built in.

okay i think i know what you mean now. yes i removed the rwd pressure relief valve.

but as far as the gears that drive the pump i didnt touch those. all i did was swap the pump over and use the ix hex shaft. am i going to have to pull my oil pan and swap those gear parts? will i have to pull my timing belt and everything involved with that as well?

Dude you're reckless! You gotta judge your speed and spot your take off. Happens to the best of us. I had a similar accident on skis and wound up in the hospital for a week with minor internal bleeding.

You have to remove the lower front engine cover, and the plug on the drivers side fo the block that covers the other gear (where a distributor goes on old carb'd M20s). you don't have to remove the pan.

that means you have to undo the crank bolt.. timing belt, yes.

haha its not what you think really. and i know that whole speal, im an instructor. so ya it really does happen to the best of us. i was tired as hell and just got done riding some BC. there was a tiny drop before the tranny that slopes back to the cat track. i got in one of those stupid positions and just stuck there until i made it all the way down the tranny and off the other edge of the cat track that was traversing a steep face. my jamie lynn has terrible mojo. i broke my ankle on it last year too.
