From what I was told you have to bob the balancers on the crank.
I picked up everything but the main bearings. Are they the same still?
I cut my crank down big time to reduce the rotating weight. Of course you will need it re-balanced afterwards. I also cut the skirts off my pistons. I had to take a little off for clearance but went ahead and took off more material. I did not need to cut down the oil shaft. Anything else you need to ask? Feel free
There was a member who did this conversion in his convertible and was disappointed, so he's swapping in an S50.
you talking about moi???
The engine is definitely an improvement over stock, more low end torque and smoother power curve. Its great around town, rarely used 1st gear. I ran a stock cam in it, I bet a Schrick would be an nice improvement.
I had always wanted an S5X and came across a GREAT deal on one. So with that, moving to a place with a much bigger garage and the need for a new project, it all came together. If I got another e30 as a DD, I would build up another 2.8 stroker and drop it in there in a heartbeat. My cabrio is a toy, only put 656 miles on it last year.
Now granted my last "toy" had 600 hp so there isn't much out there that excites me.

19# injectors and M30 AFM and a thing called a custom chip....
double check that CR before you skim anything. be sure you use short skirt "i" pistons. The block & intermediate shaft will likely need clearancing for the crank (M52 crank is larger diameter than other cranks).
cam - 272 should be good for mostly street use
head gasket - stock. OEM bmw, then Goetze, then Febi.
bolts - stock are fine, but ARP are better. especially if he'd ever like to turbo it.
scraper - it's not a bad thing to have for sure.
there isn't really a rebuild "kit". you can buy upper & lower gasket kits; bearings, bolts etc. are sold seperately.
was it tuned?
I think I am going to just leave it alone(skimming it) About how much HP would be lost?

I guess if he wanted to pay more in gas I would just boost this after I am done and run all over an S50. He asked me a few days ago that he is sick of his auto and would be happy with my 5spd ETA.
So I mentioned a stroker and he loved the idea because as stated above he gets to keep all the goodies he bought for the m20 and the rebuilt 885 head I just did this winter.
I am sure this will out run a m50/m30 swap all day.
Sounds good, Im interested in how much hp the engine will end up with
From spreads and builds I have read and skimmed it is on average in the 200s. I am not sure with the Miller MAF/chip and the headers with free flow 2.5 exhaust system. I think I might be aiming high but I would like to see 230ish with cams and a real tune.
