I agree with what Ryan said above. Almost all the welds you see were done on the bottom setting, the Eastwood burns really hot and I have no dout it culd do 1/4 plate with more practice. Besides for Automotive applications I couldn't see welding anything ever thicker than 1/4, and if it was needed, I'd want a Pro to do it anyway.
