I've been looking for an ES valance, just can't seem to find one somewhat local. Really don't want to have to pay a ton to ship that thing. Hopefully Lavent at Guten will find me one since hes so close and helpful (wink, wink)!

Well I started on the small project of getting the wood ready for the roof rack.
I chose Oak slats 1/2"x3 1/2" so the grain would pop when finished. 6 slats with about 2" spacing between each, using stainless hardware, other metals will tarnis and blacken the wood.

              Supplies:

              Cut and sanded with 220:

Stain and Poly (use marine grade poly so it holds up!):

              1 Coat of Stain:

1st of three coats of poly, will sand lightly with 320 grit between coats:

Total cost was roughly $80 for everything needed.
We'll be installing on the car Friday, more photo's then.

oh yeah, we got the suspension put together. Couldn't get the oem shocks out tof the fronts so had to take them to Bimmerworks who worked there magic and asseblem them for us with the 15mm Drop Hats from Dynamic Motorworks.

And some shots after the install, it will settle a bit and I'll update later with a pic.

H&R Sports with Bilstien Sports, 15mm Drop Hats front with pads, rears have 1 pad removed.

                  Some updates,
First we had to plug up the holes to keep the water out. These are really rough and not supposed to be pretty or proper. This car needs to last 2 years anything beyond that is gravy. We used a patch panel from a parts car, riveted that in then used Bondo Hair on everything and layed down a ton of underbody coating on top of that.

Finally putting the interior back in after 2 months of road noise!

                  And the finished rack

Great work so far, all I see in this car is a blank canvas full of potential.

However, I cannot figure out why any amount of time and money was spent on yet another of those stamped sheet metal roof racks, where there is SO MUCH work to be done with repairs on this car. I can't believe you're even driving it with that rust damage above the rear spring perch.

Fiberglass isn't exactly a substitute for missing metal....
