i found out that it helps that the engine is hot when i clean it. that way the oil just slips off with simple green max. then i power spray it.

That's a lot of cosmoline (the orange and green stuff) and I wouldn't wash the engine running. Just do it after a drive, it's a sort of ghetto steam clean.

Looks awesome dude. Having an e30 as a first car is the best thing ever. (I would know I'm 17 and have had my e30 for about a year and a half). I'm glad for you cause I know it takes forever to finally find the car u want.

What I found takes off the cosmoline well is acetone. Although pretty harsh, it does the job well. My bay was worse than yours when I first got it and with a LOT of elbow grease and time I got it almost perfect. Almost :p painting ur intake and valve cover would definitely clean things up.

Andrew, we can clean your engine bay up a lot better here when we do your T-belt. We can also paint the valve cover if you want.

white? i personally like the way it looks when people do the valve cover black and leave the bmw + lines around the bmw symbol bare. but thats my opinion as its ur car :P

I think white would be hot. Or yellow. Im done for yellow.

I saw it done on an m20 with 210hp N/A... it had triple webbers. That was a year ago on bimmerforums
