So VAC called and said the head shipped out yesterday and I should have it on Tuesday according to UPS tracking. I ended up with the Stage one package and had them install the IE HD rockers that I picked up from nando. I'm trying to line everything up to get the motor back in the car next Saturday, a litlle over a week away.

Flywheel is back from being resurfaced:

Picked up some more goodies from Blunt. Here is a good picture of the revised intermediate gear(left) compared to the original(right):

Cleaned up the E36 M3 rack that I picked up from Joe Funk 3 years ago. I hope it doesn't leak!

Hopefully the next update will be a big one. I believe I have everything on hand to get the motor back in the car next weekend. That way I can push the car down to the lower garage and start working on the turbo. That way my wife can have a parking spot in the upper garage before winter. I was given an ultimatum a few months back.

Arent those a little softer and no castor adjustment? I have been tempted to go that route as well.

I like forward movements. Any shots of that finished head yet? :)

Exactly, I think they are going to be a considerably softer with the rubber as opposed to the spherical bearing. I only drove the car a short while with the original plates and with new CA's and FCAB's, there was a harshness and slight "clunking" that I really didnt like. I ordered a rebuild kit for the GC's and then the touring kit came out a short time later so I picked up a set of those instead.

              Whoo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

              Great update!

I am afraid to call the machine shop. They have had my motor for three weeks and I don't want to hear they have not started.

Yup, I had the option to go local and save a few bucks but was unsure about timeliness and quality. VAC was a no brainer. I used them 7 years ago for my S50 head and they were great. I paid a little more but it was worth it IMO...

                  I am happy for you.

I called. They have not started. He said the same thing he said last week verbatim, EXCEPT there is somehow a boat motor ahead of mine when last week it was just a Buick motor.

Best part is the motor in my car has stopped consuming oil (reason this started) I really am thinking about packing it in and selling my parts off.

Yeah, you have definitely had a rough ride. :(

Stay the course, it will get done...

Last Tuesday (8/27) I said will you at least guarantee it will be done by the end of September he said yes. Today he said it's only the end of the first week in September. I said you have not touched it, he had the nerve to say it was unreasonable for me to expect it to be done in a week. I said I did not, but I do have a right to expect it to have started after 3!

Head came back from VAC yesterday and I spent most of the afternoon in the garage today getting ready for Saturday. Plan is to start at 10am with the help of my buddy who is a mechanic at one of the local BMW dealerships. Not that I think its beyond my ability but it sure is nice to have him around with his experience. Hopefully Blunt can stop by as well the two of them have installed the MLS headgasket before in Blunt's turbo car without issue.

I'm just going to leave it in the plastic until Saturday, I'll get better pictures then...

Then I got around to sanding the PC off the valve cover and intake.

great to see this car get some love.

I am normally thoroughly disappointed with myself and how my cars turn out because of you, Mtriple. I get a car done and think about the process you go through when building one of yours and then realise I cut corners and should have done it once, done it right (even if it does take you a few years :P )
