    1991 Mtech Build

This is the day that I bought the Mtech from Dave. First stop Dockweiller meet.

After some clean up the first addition was putting the Mtech1 tail on:

Then I installed the Mtech II Steering Wheel and while I was working on the interior I made some minor mods to a stereo trim piece and wrapped some leather around the Husco arm rest.

I found a hardtop in Chino Hills and added that to the car. This pic is on my daily driver.

The car did not have a front valance so I had to order one from Germany
    http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f14/Ironman1256/Mtech/Mtech3.jpg

I had to do away with the autotragic and drop in a 5 speed with the Z3 3.0 shifter and MHW shift knob.

After 8 months the rims were finally done

Front end and Suspension rebuild were next in line

And here is the way she sits today

    Cheers,

    Jim

Car is looking stellar. Planning on dropping the front any further? How is the engine bay coming along?

Thanks for the comments guys, I am going to see if there is any droop in the H&R sport springs and then drop the front end a little more. Drop hats are the plan. I may space the rears out another 5mm also. The rims are 15x8 RS 001 with 205/55 tires.

Here's a pick of the engine bay with the valve cover off

And with the valve cover on

I borrowed some 235/40 R17 Toyo Proxes r888 tires from a friend to try out on the Hartge wheel. The rims came stock with 15mm spacers (ET25} so the stock lug bolts would not work. I found a friend with some longer wheel bolts so Raul and I were able to do the test fit. The front tires are hanging a little too far out and the fenders are sitting a little far away from the tires. I am considering changing to coil overs and camber plates to get the perfect front fitment but I will also experiment with thinner spacers. In a few weeks the wheels will go to get refinished. Here are a couple of pictures of how she came out.

You can see that I also added Euro Smilies and wipers. I have collected all the part to make the wipers and washers functional but that project will be completed a little down the road. I found some more Hartge parts that we are working out the details on now. The parts include the strut bar, valve cover, steering wheel, and maybe a cluster if my friend decides he does not want to use it on his car. This car is turning out to be a Hartge/Mtech which should be kind of different and add a little character to the build. I also picked up a 528 block and forged crank for the stroker/turbo motor build (thanks for the inspiration Matt). Now I have to save my nickels up for the next step in the build.

                              Cheers,

                              Jim
