the head of the bolt hadn't even hit the cam seal ring yet
i wasn't just going ham on the thing lol. but the one that did snap seem'd to have suffered from heating and cooling rapidly, it was a rusty color, i take it was from the side closer to the thermostat port.

Bentley manual says 48-52 ft. lbs. Camshaft sprocket to cam, right?

how would one go about torqueing that since it spins the cam?

Take an old timing belt and wrap in around that camshaft sprocket and use some vice grips to keep it tight. Similar to how a oil filter/strap wrench works. Ill try and pull the picture from the bentley pdf.

            EDIT: Got it.

do you install the camshaft seal from the back of the cam to the head or once the cam is all the way in then slide the seal over it?

i checked the bolt and its submerged in the head :Fuck:

From the Bentley: Installation is the reverse of removal. Before installing the
camshaft, it should be thoroughly lubricated . Coat the camshaft
oil seal lip and the housing O-ring with motor oil before
installation. To prevent damaging the oil seal, wrap the front of
the camshaft with tape. If the oil supply tube was removed ,
                      tighten the fittings to 6 to 8 Nm (4.5 to 5 . 5 ft. lb.) . I nstall the
camshaft sprocket and the distri butor rotor adaptor so the
guide pin correctly aligns with the guide hole in the sprocket
and adaptor. Tighten the mounting bolt to 65 to 70 N m (48 to
                      52 ft. l b.) .
