No full corner-to-corner tube in the main hoop?

    Advice:
Skin your driver's door, roll the window down and see how much room you have to extend a NASCAR style door bar into it. The extra elbow room is VERY underrated.

Ours extends to the outer door skin, but you get the picture:
This car is not going to see any turns, it's a drag race cage different set up.

Tigging would be better with less sparks plus better penetration. The mig I have is a Lincoln 135 and don't think it will penetrate enough.

Since you are going to be crawling all over/under the car with your welding gear, have you thought about switching to a diff cover with 2 mounting ears to ease the not inconsiderable load you are asking of it? You could sling tubes from the cage down to trunk floor on top of new mounts if you were feeling frisky.

The plan is to reinforce the top trunk floor were the diff ear attaches then fab up a strut tower bar and weld in reinforcement bars over the diff.

I did make an additional diff support that's bolted right to the diff.

I love it, can't wait to see more progress on this!

I had no idea you could buy a cage precut like that. What's the cost if you don't mind me asking?

              Here's the website http://shop.brokedickracing.com/

I ordered the DOM pipe and came to $604 shipped, the EWS pipe is $215 less. They also have chrome moly tubing, drift cages also.

              Great company to deal with.

                        I need some advice.

                        Removed the dash.

                        Installed the top hoop.

And then started on the A pillars. My question is are they to far back? I wanted them closer to the A pillar but now the top legs are to short to move back farther.

Here are the tools, I used.

I believe he said this was for a drag car, not a road course car. Two completely different types of structures. Plus, unless you are converting to a coil on shock rear suspension in a dedicated track car, boxed shock towers are unnecessary.

I like this cage kit... it's a nice, pre-bent, pre cut and pre-notched kit. But, your dilemma about the a-pillars is the difference between a kit and a fabricated roll cage. The kit will have some small shortcomings, like the a-pillar tubes not fitting super tight to the pillar. Personally, I think it fits pretty good for a kit... most don't fit near as nice. Your option would be to custom make the front tubes and fit them tighter. As you are seeing, the a-pillars in these cars are not straight, but curved, ever so slightly. When I did my cage I had to put 2 kinks in each down tube to keep them tight to the curve of the a-pillar. That's about the only way you can get them any tighter... make your own. It looks good man, eager to see more, as you go!

I'm thinking if I had cut the legs a little shorter this would have allowed the bar to move farther towards the firewall and upper portion closer to the A pillar.

Yes, but only if the halo legs were longer, since the intersection of the a-pillar tubes and the halo is a fixed intersection. It doesn't look like the halo can go much further forward, from the one picture, so you may have it fitting as good as it will get without custom tubes. Or were both ends of the a-pillar tubes rough cut and you trimmed them to the lengths they are now? If that's the case, then you're right... longer down tubes and shorter legs would've pushed them forward and tighter. Still looks good, man...
