Well tonight I got some work done so I could get the car ready for paint as Im spraying it tomorrow night. ( body, doors, trunk and top cover. ) The garage will be closed monday. So I can let it sit inside till Tuesday morning with no worries of anyone fucking with it.
On to some photos, boring I know.
This was right after I rinsed the car from some wet sanding action.

This is with everything all sanded and ready to be masked up for some color.
The whole car will get a wax and grease remove scrub down before any color flys.

I figure I might as well strip the leather off this cover and spray that too.

I think Im going to spray the rockers white so everything blends in a little better. I got a idea for the molding under the doors also. I just got to talk to the metal fab shop to see what we can make up for it.
Check back for some painted photos tomorrow night. Its going to be exciting.Comment

I wasnt going to paint the rear valance tomorrow because I wanted to strip it down and respray the undercoating as the shit that was on there was flaking from a respray at one point.
So I figure what the hell, cant take that long to do.
Stripped.

Sprayed.

Now this was one can of 3M's paintable undercoating. Im going to grab another can tomorrow and do another two coats before I mask it off and spray it. I believe Im going to do this all white also. If anything I can just shoot it black later.Comment

Ha, im not exactly sure what im going to do yet. But definitely a small piece of metal in there to blend it a little better. I ended up ripping the trims off because I kept catching them with my feet and they would keep poppin off. Got very annoying.
Thanks, much appreciated. I didn't plan on going this far with this car. But it got to the point where I didn't feel like driving around in a car with fucked up paint/body.
Anyways, I just got back from the auto body supply store with the last of the stuff I need to get these parts painted. Very excited about this.Comment

Im very excited for yours to be done. :p
Well onto the photos. Everything laid out amazing other than the clear as I ran into a little problem with it and the gun. Trying to rush a little before the problem got worse caused a few drips in the clear here and there. No big deal as it will get a wet sand and more than likely another coat of clear.
Final sand with 600 wet.

The worst part of the whole job.

Some base.

Clear.

And the problem I ran into with the clear and the gun.

In the photo its hard to see, but there is a blue line in the clear. What happend was the clear reacted with the plastic on the gun and caused the color from the lid to drop into the clear which went onto the car.
I have about 5-6 spots like this. I hope they come out when I wet sand the clear. I already know I will be adding atleast two more coats of clear. As soon as I see this happen I stopped spraying any more coats and tossed the clear out.Comment

Making quick progress it looks awesome already! I think I'm gonna respray my black convertible before spring. What kind of paint and clear are you using? I was thinking of using ppg deltron and then using the Euroclear. I was at the paint shop yesterday getting prices. I can't wait for spring time...My Multi car part out. Need a part? Pm me...

Im using ppg deltron base and ppg deltron 4000 clear with a mid temp hardner because I wasn't baking it and wanted the clear to flow out better.Comment

I was expecting Techno Violet :( Looking good though! Hopefully those little lines/ drips will buff out.Comment

haha no color changing here. well other than from alpine 2 to alpine 3.
As for the drips of blue, they sunk right down into the color. So I had to sand them all out. There was a few spots that I wasnt happy with so I sanded them out also.
Im gonna shoot a dust coat of color and then re clear. I have really bad OCD when it comes to paint/body work. :/Comment
