He's talking about e30M3 stuff. Front strut tubes are not cheap if you can find them, but well worth the money if your planning on getting very serious with your build.

Neighborhood, thanks for the post. I've been looking around sort of casually for E30 M3 five-lug stuff, and it does indeed seem to be rare...and spendy. I don't mind waiting, and spending the money on the parts...if it's worth it. What I need is data.

When you say that the E30 M3 stuff is 'well worth the money,' can you define what makes it preferable to stock E30 4-lug stuff with well set-up quality suspension and BBK? If I stay with the setup that the E30 came with, I'd be adding AST suspension most likely, and a UUC BBK.

I have all e36 m3 components . I might get the bump steer bs, but then again for the money, do things that matter most first. I got the whole 5 lug and could for around $500 from hookups so I can't complain .

Well, purchased a couple of parts for Lilo (from Levent at Guten Parts, natch!), and they should be here Tuesday or Wednesday.
* Radio blockoff plate
* Hood latch, latch cover & bolts

Part of why Lilo's bay was so filthy is that the hood doesn't close! Time to fix that...

More (hopefully more interesting) update will come Sautrday afternoon, in the form of an S52

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Just minor work today. Lilo didn't have a hood latch, so I picked one up from Guten Parts, along with the cover for the latch (used, as apparently it's NLA) and the mounting bolts. 5 minutes to install, and now my hood stays closed.

Lilo will not be running a radio, so the head unit went to a douchebag I used to be friends with. This left a not very attractive mess...


Picked up a radio blank plate (again, from Guten Parts) to clean up the mess.

Lilo had a black pinstripe on her left flank. Not sure why, as the lines along the sides of the E30 coupes are lovely. Wanted to get rid of em.

Losing the pinstripe showed that the car had been repainted at some point. I initially thought that the car was Zinnoberrot, although there is no sticker on the strut towers. I remembered that when I got the car, there were cans of paint inside. I decided to see what color was listed on top of the cans...and was rather surprised with what I found!

WTF! LOL!

I also pulled the gauge cluster to replace the 'e' model tach with the 'i' model one I'd pulled from a Pick'n'Pull. As it turns out, apparently there are early-model and late-model Motometer clusters, and the two do not play well together. Anyone have any early model tach? Or need a late-model one? :???:

I also pulled the rear seat today. More cleaning and pics tomorrow...

Agreed! She will be painted Zinnoberrot in the Spring. I'd considered spraying her Henna, but Zinno is pretty beautiful, too!

A couple of pics from the minor work I did today. First, removing some accessories and cleaning the block:

I didn't bother to take any 'Before' pic of this side, but I guarantee you that it was NOT this clean! Oil pan is the S52 one, and is going away. I've got the E34 M50 pan & pickup ready to bot on.

Next, I decided to get rid of the rest of the back seat and clean some more stuff out of the back of Lilo:


Trying to decide tonight what color to paint the block...Red block in a red car? Too much?

I drove an E30 M3 back-to-back with my modded E30 Sedan today. It was...interesting. It did help further define the direction that Lilo will be built. Light. Fast. Hard as f*cking NAILS.
