Chump Car - John Allen Special USFail1 Race Team Build
Cell phone photos... sorry. Picked it up from sponsor with cage, safety gear and such. Race tires going on tomorrow with our 15s. Interior wiring and parts on Saturday!
My office for about 4 hours next Saturday and Sunday!
Headlights myself and co-captain are building. E36 DJ Auto Projectors in E30 bowls. Utilize factory adjusters. Lexan in front! Will have 4x 35W 4.5K HIDs in projectors.
Car is getting cage, seat, safety, fire gear and such with Technica Motorsports. We are prepping so we are ready for delivery. We are weeks away from the race! Next on the list is getting our light setup. I have done a few Bi-Xenon swaps and get left with E36 H1 projectors... they are free so let's mount 4 of them into E30 Sealed Beam bowls! Bolt in quad projectors!
The issue is getting glass in front of them to protect them. The fix? Cut lexan to protect them... and it will look more like an E36 headlight than an E30! Sure that will make everyone happy!
Stripped most of car. Dash out. Dropped off seat. Cage will be installed soon. Getting down to the final stages with a few projects left. Then did a one wheel peel... for fun. Of course this was in Mexico on out closed testing course.
Higher revs = more stress
more stress = higher failure rate
And we have to claim it. And then run premium. It's not worth it IMO. We are ~10-15 seconds off the pace but that is on terrible street tires. Star Specs will net a few seconds. I think we are pretty well setup :)
We had two drivers scheduled to run the HPDE this weekend at Road Atlanta. We also had some instructors drive the car to give their feedback. We put 5 Saturday sessions(including instruction driving the snot out of it) and 7 Sunday sessions on the car. Each session was 25 minute so the time on track added up quick. The car ran without a single fault. We had zero issues. Was very stable. Brakes were great. We are able to be flat out in many sections since the ETA just does not have a lot of power. Both drivers commented they were more than impressed and again were surprised at how the car does feel... a nice little package.
We have two In-Car videos of Trevor driving in various sessions.
