We're humbled each and every time the JAS runs into problem by the amount of support the BMW community gives us. We set a $1500 goal to get the car fix, and raised over $1k of it the first night... as well as got contacted by Steven to bring the car up to Nashville to get it fixed for the price of a couple of dinners.
Seriously... thank you guys for keeping JAS relevant!

Repair time! This is what we started with... and how we finished.

We slowly pulled out the panels and the minor bend in the rear frame rail. Coming along...

Lined up to the basic shape of an E30 rear end. Now the scary part...

Then we started with fine tuning the new tail light panel and our current rear end. Cutting. Massaging. Cutting again. Prepping. Sanding. Welding.

Tail light bolts in. Bumper bolts on. Coming together.

Finished. Lined up. All lights in and running!

Fun problem. One of our teammates who shall remain nameless(RichE30) installed the lock cylinder we took off the new tail light panel. Then we shut trunk to confirm operation and get it dialed in... guess what? It's NOT the correct setup. So we had to really pry our way in...

And time to roll home! We will do some sanding and a little filler here/there to really clean it up. Everything lines up, opens, closes and works! Spent ~48 hours of epic work days to finish it. Two days including time to and from Nashville from Atlanta! New livery coming soon!

We enjoyed racing with you guys at AMP. We were in the #61 red/silver PBR E30. I saw the incident on Sunday in my rearview mirror. Very unfortunate you got tangled up in that mess. Damage doesn't look too bad though and I'm sure you will be up and running again in no time. I hope to see you at Road Atlanta in February. We lost our clutch with a few hours left on Sunday so we also have some repairs to do over the next few months.Leave a comment:
