    E30 streeter build

mI just picked up an e30 318i about 3 days ago. After selling my R33 Skyline i was looking for something to use as a daily. I have never looked at or thought about Buying an E30 but my G/F loves then so when i fould this one for sale for $650 obo she insisted we have a look. The car is what you expect for a $650 car thats on the road. Its rough, the paint on the roof is almost white, the interiour is dirty and in poor condition but mechanicly it seems fine bar a noisy gearbox. So here we are i now own a 1985 E30 318i with 160,000 km on it. This weekend i will start the clean up and let you all know how i go and what i get done! Sorry for the babble lol.

Looks like you could've done far worse for 650, only things I see wrong are it's half a foot too high off the ground and those bottle caps! Well maybe the lip too.

What are your plans for it?

Yeah I was just saying you should grab an IS lip, they look so much better. Of course mechanicals are top priority. Anyhow nice find man, hope it turns out good!

It's a series 1 with euro bumper/valance, not a series 2. The lip on there is the correct one.

I'm not sure that iS lips mount to a series 1 valance, they're pretty different. Would probably require a complete face lift and that's not worth the effort. Old school is cool.

Stay with the chrome bumpers and find an M-Tech I kit for the car!

                Example:

                1992 BMW 525iT Calypso
                2011 Jeep Wrangler

BMAUTO in WA actually have a full M Tech 1 kit for $800. Shipping to Melbourne would be the killer though.

So i got a bit of work done today. First thing i did was change the deck im realy not big on sterios, i only replaced it because the old sony one would not play CD's and i couldn't use my iphone with it, so i threw in a base modle Alpine unit. Next thing i did was an oil change the old oil looked disgusting. The car runs so much nicer now i have never felt a differance from a simple oil and filter change before so this must of been bad.
old oil that came out of the car

I reset that oil light all of the lights went all green and then when i started my car up the next time there is no lights at all are they ment to all go away or stay green? They are green when the ignition is turned on but when the car is running they go away. The other thing i did today was to pull off the old shit tow bar! i realy hate these things on cars if you dont use the car to tow! so off it went!
Then i had a random look under the bonnet and found a heap of loose wires and wires that were not conected to anything. This wont be fun. The other thing i found under the bay was my AFM cap was loose it was like there was no sealent on it at all so i am now worried that some one has fucked around with it to try and get some power and it may damage the motor. i took a couple of quick pics of the inside to show you all what it looks like hopfully some one can let me know if it looks stock or if it has been played with.

Tommorow i might try and clean up the exteriour a bit! the pealing roof is realy killing me but i cant afford to repaint it atm so i might just try and clean the rest up.

Sand and polish the hell out of the roof and it'll look much better.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Thats what i was thinking of trying this but the roof has some white paches on it! i supose i can just give it ago and if it does not work i haven`t realy wrecked anything.

its kinda a crap shoot getting your answers answered in your build thread.
I usually post the question in the thread and then go to the section the problem pertains to. Go to the section for your motor, post the pic and youll find your answer in a day probably

                              Nice acquisition!
m20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.
