Yes a log style header will be what I will have to run. A set from an 05 LS2 might fit....I need to do some measuring.

There is NO way a header will fit. The engine actually is sitting in the car now. I want not able to leave the booster. I had a remote booster from a 540 sitting around so that is in and working out. The shifter comes right up through the console and everything else is clearing, steering, sway bar, etc etc.

Right now the motor is just sitting on the subframe with some wood spacing it off. The mounts look like they should be pretty easy to make. I am hoping my bro-in-law can sqeeze me in tomorrow am and cut some plates on the water jet. Mounts will be done tomorrow.

Consider log-style headers --check out a search on them for some good pics -- piece of cake to clear steering box and linkage.

We may make some for our next swap. Ignore the flamers who think long-tube headers are the only way to go; you have limited options to run the exhaust and redoing the steering is hard & risky. Good luck get some pics posted

Great potential with the e28 alone. This thing is going to be a highway monster!

just a small update.....more will happen tomorrow.

Got the garaged cleaned up some and the e28 up on the lift.
Engine came out (it had half an m30 in it, head was gone)
had to make a scrap run (m30, old m10, more random camaro parts)

The GTO oil pan will get swapped on tomorrow and the LS1 will get dropped in. I did some simple measurements and it looks like with the shifter in the middle of the console opening the heads will be in front of the brake booster. I have a remote booster from a e34 540 if needed but I will start with trying to keep the stock booster.

I have decided to drop both the front and rear subframes and have everything powder coated. The first stage will be to have ALL the mechanical bits of the car refreshed.

The firewall insulation is pretty beat up (what do you expect for an 85). A new one is NLA so I need to figure out if I want to just leave it or replace with something different. Any suggestions?

    On to some pictures.

I normally take a bunch of other random pictures so as I am sitting on the couch and need to figure something out I have pictures to reference. They all get dumped here for this project. www.theguestroom.net/e28 Feel free to check them out.

    Oh yes.

I will be doing an M62 swap into my euro E28 starting this summer.

I am the slowest person on earth to finish car projects I actually try to give a shit about. I built my stupid e30 project in 6 months though. My thought process at this very moment is this - Likely move into a house in the next like few days maybe with a large garage/shop. Houses have been being looked at. Move all my tools and boxes from CA to WA, along with my shell and body parts. Along the way find two clean quarter panels and finally have indoor space I can use to do some body surgery. Or I could save up a couple grand and have a friends bodywork guy replace the panels for me while its still in CA, but that's the hold up. It's a huge undertaking to replace the back half of the car as I plan to do, but I want to do it myself so I can know I did it, and how it was done. Hence shortly having room available, what I've been trying to get all along. I also have 90% of a ~30"x30"x6" CNC router I need to finish so I can make some things to sell :D cough my 02 LED tails. cough

It's pretty bad though isnt it. lol
