The engine isn't weak, it's the car being produced in the 80's and by American dimwits they choked the engine to get better emission results. Opening up the exhaust nets humongous gains as does any bolton upgrade on the 302.

Exactly. I just love the simplicity of the engine, and how easy/ cheap it is to get decent power gains, compared to 24v swap or that sort of thing. Even with aluminum heads, its still going to be about 50-100lbs heavier than a 24v.

Good base coat of regular grey primer, then metallic purple, high heat paint. Should be able to pick it up at any auto parts store chain.
