Mine was like that cause they put cold water in the hot engine, and then warped the heads. Then left it sit for a few years.

How do most people still not understand that you can't put cold water in a hot engine?

New engine is in, so time for new gaskets.

What I'm starting with: 1991 5.0 Ho, bored to a 306. Forged pistons, cam'd(not sure of kind, but very lopey), aluminum rocker arms, aluminum valve covers, ARP head bolts and intake bolts, and Weiand single plain intake( for sale if anybody is interested) mated to the old T5 trans via a Center Force stage 2 clutch and flywheel.

The nice intake bolts, going to clean/ shine these up.

Intake off, looks very clean! And thankfully the gasket mating surface was pretty clean and smooth still.

Oh look, non rusty water passage ways!

Valve cover off, aren't the arms beautiful?

And my temp office for cleaning/ breaking down.

Yeah yeah, now my driveshaft hits the csb mount though for no apparent reason -_-

I'm just taking my time with it now haha, no need to rush.

Also, to anyone attempting the swap, 2 things:

                1. Make your core support removable. It will make getting the engine and trans
in together so so so much easier.

                2. Cut off your csb mounts from the get go. I'm using a 3" driveshaft and it was very close even before this current issue. So save yourself the headache and just chop em.

                  3. Cut the shift linkage mount out of the transmission tunnel.

                  4. Don't do the swap in the first place. Jk.

                      Done.

Well, I need some super high grit sand paper to do them properly at some point.

Didn't you see the pic? The engine was totally fine. Turns out the clutch/ pressure plate had kinda, well just broke.

Either way, we knew it was clutch stuff before I bought the new engine haha, just wanted a clean slate.

Wait, so you knew the engine had clutch issues, then you proceeded to install said engine. Then, when it didn't run, you couldn't figure out why?
