^GM's would have a little lock clippy thingy on the long side on at least one side, and would have some locating bars to prevent backwards plugging I think.

ROFL.
I told myself I'd take a look at it on Friday, but it slipped my mind by Saturday. Sucks getting old. :(
I made some progress of not getting my S54 running though. Fueling is all set. There's a stupid jumble quick disconnect to metric M12 back to 8mm hose barb which is aggravating to deal with. There's not really a convenient place to put the stock S54 filter, which would have made things quite a bit easier.

you mounting it on the front driver's frame rail? I'd like to get the pump/filter installed this year.
I got ripped off a while back BTW - was supposed to have S54 injectors, but was sold M54 injectors instead. worst part is I spent $85 having them rebuilt, and I still have the wrong injectors. :(

this part is pretty well done... need to calibrate it of course, but using the values straight out of the TI op-amp calculator got me 95% of the way there. :)
when I get my order from blunt I can wire the E46 cluster to the E30 cluster (instead of the random jumpers I've got now). after that it might sit for a while depending on my free time - I taught my first class at the tech school today, and it wasn't bad at all. So hopefully I'll have time to be finished this spring..
even if I finish the cluster though, I have to wire at least some of the car for the MSS54. I may go ahead and install EWS and set it up to control the electric fan through PWM.

No luck with that part # you gave me (sorry for the trouble!).
But, I did find the BMW # (pretty sure)
12521433915 (connector)
12520007170 (pins, pretty sure I already have a bunch)
12521732634 (rubber boot)
cliffs: cross reference oil level sensor PN (12617508003) on real OEM. Click on random models (it's used on almost everything) because sometimes BMW will show you a part # for something electrical, and sometimes they don't. I found it on a diagram for the E53 X5 3.0:
WHY BMW does this I don't know. I've had to do the same thing to find other electrical stuff. Same damn part, but only certain models will give you a #.
now to make another blunt order.. sigh. yeah, just buy a damn harness. :p
edit: yep, pretty sure it's right. here's a pic of #12521433917, which is in the same part family:

sure, that'd be nice. I pretty much went with what was in my PCB software. :p
I haven't really found that to be true, at least not all of the time. I get lots of my "BMW" connectors off mouser, digikey, or other sites. It's just finding the part #s that's difficult (especially for tiny little pins that all look the same). I've switched over to getting most of my connectors off generic sites if I can get a PN. $1 or less, and pennies per pin, vs $1 per pin and $5 for a stupid plastic plug.
Sometimes, they won't sell them in quantities less than like 10,000, which sucks, but you *could* get them. :p
