Just an update. Nothing really awesome yet. Got parts in the mail still waiting on more.
So far my busget looks like this:
-$1500 Bought the 540 and had it deliverd
+$1250 Sold the seats and other interior bits as well as springs and such and let some other parrts go. After shipping and such, I'm at @$250 for the cost of this e34.
So far ordered
Motor mount arms
Trans extension
RPM mod
Wilwood reverse mount pedal assembly
Pedal assembly mount bracket
Non-airbag Steering column
Mtech I Steering wheel
Illuminated 6-spd knobs (2)(Wood and leather)
X5 exhaust manifolds
5-lug rear end
Front and rear bumpers (in paint)
Front valance (in paint)
New vert lid replacement plastics
^I'm not going to add all that up yet.
I'm still looking for M3 front suspension, style 5 17x8 wheels or somethings that compliments the sound of a v8, complete bushing set, and complete gasket set for the engine and trans.
Little photo action.
I looked at this car and was going to buy it and change the entire direction of my E30 V8 swap. Guy sold it from under me when I went to get the money from the bank.
It was a 1 owner 95 540i auto for only $2500. Yes $2500
Whats left of the parts car.
Hauling off the M20 I sold
A package from Matt @gragistic! Awesome guys! Very quality and sturdy mounts.
An odd ford came over to play
A random picture painted by someone at the mall. I almost bought it but I'm not that big of a fanboi
Getting everything out and ready to pull. I love removable core supports!
All out and ready to disect. Everything is pretty clean if you ask me. I'll probably brush it all over with a cleaning wheel of some sort.
Clutch looks to have some decent tread. Good enough for now.
Now the e34 sits low! Hella flush.
I'm assuming in the last pic I'm supposed to cut that down to fit the mounts. Looks pretty straight forward. If not, X5 parts will be ordered.
Wait, you got a one-owner calypso 540i/6 in perfect running order for $2500??? AND you parted it out?!?!?
I love your swap but 540i/6 cars are hard to find these days, especially unmolested :( RIP E34
Reading fails you.
The car he parted was a black 540i/6 with hail damage that he got for $1500.
The calypso e34 was a 540i/A for $2500 that he almost bought but the guy sold it under him while he was on his way to the bank to get the money to buy it

This.
The calypso was an auto. I was going to 6-speed swap it and put the m60 swap for the e30 on hold. Why? because calypso E34/6speed > calypso E30 m60/6speed.
Glad you like the M60 swap kit. Let us know if we can help in anyway.
Sidenote: Although the factory m60 rubber mounts in the donor car can work. We recommend unsing e39 525TDS motor mounts. (part number: 22111094248)
They are not offset studs, fit perfectly within the e30 frames, and are 7cm higher. The e32/e34 rubber mounts seem to be a bit lower and customers in the past have needed to grind a tiny bit away for the oil pan for them to work. Although that will work, we recommend the motor mounts above.
Send Blunt a PM. He is a great supporter of r3v and has great prices.
(btw we posted this link to our facebook fans so people can watch along)
Another small update. Ordered a bunch of shit to finish this thing.
parted out the rest of the 540i and in total I made about $1700.00
Not bad if you ask me. I pretty much got a free m60 and 6spd delivered to my door.
So far ordered
gaskets to completely reseal the m60
mounts
knock sensors
subframe bushings
TA's
318ti trailing arms
pre-airbag steering column
Mtech e28 wing
Mtech 1 steering wheel
This thing is adding up quickly.
Still waiting on painted parts and the new valance
also waiting on the driveshaft shop to get back with a total cost to do my stuff.
I still gotta order an LSD, exhaust bends, tubing, and clamps. Front m3 brakes and stuff... By the time that's all here I'll need to order new wheels and tires. I'm expected to break the $3500 mark when all is ordered so the answer to my own question is no, no you can not even attempt to complete this swap for less than $4k
Other than that been dicking around and test fitting the engine to see how I'll route my A/C and power steering. Here's a few photos. NOthing special yet!
started tearing out the interior to get out the steering coloumn and air bag stuff. going to remove the dash to mod the heater core so the rubber tubing can latch on it without binding.
Completely stripped the front end and getting ready to make the core support removable
The innards of this engine is straight gorgie!
although I do have a question, it seems as if the timing of the cams is way off. Shouldn't the bolt be more centered on the cam sprockets?
