This is the DIY for my black interior conversion.
It all started with just wanting to buy a nice set of front black sport seats. When I arrived to pick up the seats I saw his black back seats and thought I should probably buy those too, it would be a better match.
The seller agreed to sell me his rear seat as well, great I'm excited. I get home and started looking at my interior and picturing what it would look like with my new seats. HHmmm... then I started thinking about painting my door panels black to help tie in the black seats better. Okay sure that doesn't sound too bad. After some more pondering and before I knew it I gutted out my entire interior, including front speaker panels, rear speaker deck, completely disassembled my rear premium speakers, and rear 3rd brake light. F*ck, what did I do...
Here are the tools that I used:
- 17mm socket
- Several various trim pullers
- Phillips screwdriver
Here are the paint job materials:
- 8 cans of Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric spray paint (HPV-106 flat black)
- 1 can of Dupli-Color Prep-Spray
Here are the pieces that were painted:
- 2 front speaker panels
- 2 front door panels (removed all pieces and painted individually)
- 2 rear side panels
- Rear speaker deck
- Rear premium speakers (removed speakers, tweeters and grills and painted individually)
- Complete interior carpet
I also painted the interior chrome trim that were attached to each of the interior door panels and painted those black as well.
Note: If you attempt to follow this DIY I take no responsibility for any damages to your car/parts should they occur. Make sure you take note of where each part/bolt/screw/washer goes because if you lose anything don't come crying to me as I don't have any spare parts.
But the results were well worth the labor, it's a complete day & night transformation and I couldn't be happier.
