I'll take it? I just bought an 02 about a month ago from SF. Should be starting a build thread fairly soon.

Chubbs, you find those RM's you wanted yet?

Let me know when you start up a build thread for your '02, I'd like to follow it

I might have a set for you soon actually.
My build will be a bit more stock appearance aesthetically, but I might have some plans for the engine. Or I will just go balls out stock and putt around town in all of its 1973 <100hp glory.

Stock m10 with e21 5 speed and LSD from my newly acquired 320is, or balls out 2.5l s14 swap. Finding a suitable s14 to build is not very easy unfortunately. But if I go s14, the entire build changes and I will track the car. I have a hunch that I should just restore it with a few tasteful parts, seperately build another purposeful fast car, and have each shine in their own light. Nothing is set in stone yet and the funds are there to make each idea into a reality.

Either way it would be cool, I think you should keep the '02 as a street car though and just enjoy it and gut an E30 as a track car. I'm considering LSD for my '02, if I find an affordable one I might jump on it. Sounds like whatever you do will be cool though.

Huntington Beach is a damn good starting point to a real Southern California adventure. There are some seriously interesting car people here who you benefit greatly from knowing and utilizing as resources if the need ever arose.

If you need a room, I would happily oblige to your requests, most of them anyways. I reserve a few requests strictly for my girl.

                        PM is coming.

I'm a bit jealous of this, I live a bit north of you, more central coast CA. I grew up in the Pismo Beach area and there really aren't that many car people here. We have a huge car show here every year which mainly consists of american classics, which is cool too, just not my taste really. Other than that, there's not much. I've actually never been to Huntington, are there any good waves down there?

The waves are typically fair to good. It gets consistently good in the fall/winter but summer swells bring in some fun waves too. I like to surf Newport or further south, it just depends on my schedule and if I have 3 hours to kill minimum.

I surfed 7 hours last saturday. Epic peeling A-framed lefts were hitting so hard off the balboa peninsula that day.

wow, excellent build! I am not normally a fan of flared 02s but the VW flares look at home.

                                nice job
