Spent some more time trying to get the fucking muffler off. I think I broke through both the spot welds, but it's still stuck on there. I soaked it in wd40 and I'll try some more tomorrow morning. All I've been thinking is ffs it's clamped for a fucking reason. They didn't put a clamp on so some dipshit could weld it together. They put a clamp on so you don't have to fucking weld it. God damn it.

Plans changed and I've been working on this. To whoever welded this together: fuck you.

I looked and felt around on the top and everything seemed to be fine. The spring seemed to be seated correctly but I'm only like 85% sure.

    So a little update:
Back in 1991, BMW engineers decided to have the muffler of e30 late model 318i's clamp on instead of weld to the pipe. This design is awesome and allows one to easily change out the muffler without taking off the whole pipe behind the resonator and welding it together. Unfortunately for me, some dumbass in my car's past (I'm really sorry if you're on here reading this) decided he was smarter than BMW, and fucking welded the clamp to the pipe. Awesome. I was gonna have that muffler on in under 30 minutes, but now it'll have to wait until tomorrow since I have to go somewhere right now and I'll be busy for the rest of the day.

hmm maybe the coils are binding in some way at the top and not seating correctly

Hello Vivek. (is that your real name?)

springs and stuff need to settle when you change the ride height. usually will happen with a day of driving.

It should be on KYB's. The thing is it was lower when I got it. On the exact same shocks. All that I've changed was the height on the adjuster, and that's why I'm so stumped.

    Thanks for the encouragement :D

If you're on Billies, you aint going lower than your currently are. I'd be surprised if it was any lower.

Anyway, nice work! Keep it up.

Got it running again. Changed the other main coolant hose from the rad to the tstat housing too because it was oil damaged. Put in some more coolant and distilled water and it runs fine. Didn't take it for a drive though because I'm tired.
