Vivek's Vert.

It was painted when I got it. I've yet to see a perfectly painted e30 hardtop, but hopefully a local who's getting his done will be pretty good. It's decent for Kevlar that was never meant to be painted, but not perfectly smooth. -
yeah, given how the 318ic came from the factory, i have to think that was a rare error on their part- someone said "this bit goes in all the convertibles" and maybe that production order never got rescinded when they started making M42 verts. i never noticed any tail-happiness, but i kinda have a lot of tire. :D
i forgot to ask last post- was your hardtop painted like that when you got it? i've seen a red mt2 vert around with a similar treatment and i think i want to do the same to mine.Leave a comment:

Thank you! I haven't removed the weight yet, but since I'm on coil overs I think I will now. I just decided for a while that if BMW put it there, it must be there for a reason so I never bothered with it.
I have nothing new to add other than that I bought tires for the 17" borbet type a's ill be eventually getting.Leave a comment:

heh... you've done a lot of the same stuff i did to my 318ic, down to candy-store colors underneath.
have you pulled the anvil out of the trunk yet? if not, do so. it's a ~40lb block on the rear passenger side.
anyway, hunted this thread down because i saw you at valley fair a week or so ago. car looks good and the blonde you were with was easy on the eyes too :PLeave a comment:

Got this far:

For anyone with experience with Condor raised subframe bushings, does this look right?:

Got the TAB's pulled out, just need to put the new ones in. New subframe is ready to go in. If all goes well, it should be good to go by tomorrow afternoon.Leave a comment:

Installing today/tomorrow: IE TABs, Condor solid Subframe mounts and Diff mount.
Doesn't look like much was done, but all that's holding the subframe/diff/TA's on now is the diff mount and the two nuts on the subframe, that I already broke free so they're ready to come off. I just didn't want to do it today because it'd be sitting on a jack and I wouldn't be able to close the garage door.

It's not simply shortened housings, I'd also need shortened Konis which are also more expensive. With 17x7.5 et-2 I doubt I'll be able to run any lower any way. And camber plates will be about another inch less stack height, and I'll probably get them eventually.Leave a comment:

You shoulda saved up for two more weeks and had your housings shortened.Leave a comment:

m50:

Cylinders look good:

Installed these rings, bump stops, and the bump stop vents in the last hour:

Ride height until I get new wheels and tires. Rears are all the way down, fronts are about as low as I can go and still have travel. I need camber plates :(

And to expel any thoughts of reverse rake:

I'll have to think about it. I'll see what that turbo kit prices are like and what people think of it when it's on the market. If I so desired, I could do this swap for damn near 500 bucks. I need a head, alternator, usual swap parts, and a few other little things. Then just drop it in with an e36 325i drive shaft and call it a day. It's all about how much I want to do to this bottom end since i can't compression test it with no head on. If I simply slap on the necessary parts that I need, the most expensive thing would probably be the clutch and flywheel.Leave a comment:
