Standard takes two legs to make the car go. I am not saying you cannot manage shifting with one leg, I do it from time to time with my right leg for fun. Fact: You cannot manage the pedals in a sudden issue that DEMANDS the use of two legs. Brake to avoid someone cutting off, then down shift to speed up around them. I have had people not look and just bolt through a red light or stop sign. On the highway, you get the idea. You have to be ready and I think the best is an auto. Don't like it? too bad, go buy a newer BMW with flappy paddles.

Why are you swapping to a 5spd? I am sure you know you have only one leg right? Don't setup some contraption when it is designed for two leg operators.

I should also add I got my new federal 595s mounted up on my rear wheels. 235/40R17s on 17X9 - it is my idea of perfect stretch.
