79 Classic Mini Honda D Series Swap

I post here a lot so thought I would share this as well.....finished one project. Time to start a few more.

This project will span over a little bit of time as I will be doing some other projects while this one is going as well. This will be for my wife...79 LHD Mini 1000 with a 97 Honda D series and automatic. It will get AC and a bunch of other modern bits.

About how much was that mini if you don't mind me asking?

The mini is FWD so an m42 would be a bit of work......more so than the honda engine will be. The honda engine requires making a new front subframe.

I paid just under $4k for the mini.

Honda is parted out and the shell is going to scrap tomorrow.





In addition to the engine/trans I am saving...ALL wiring, cluster, console, steering rack, front suspension, AC bits, cruise control, pedal set, and a handful of other random little bits.

if your doing the honda swap for the vtec.... this is not the engine! the d series is really weak... 127 hp for a y8 i think yours is a y7 if i remember right.. also right around the same power. but i guess for a mini it might do... maybe look into b20b? from a honda crv... that might be something looking into.. unless your set on this. Either way... props for doing honda swap into a mini! wanna see how it will turn out!

thats a perfect morot for that car b20 would be shoe horned in, minis came with about 50-60 hp if i remember ive driven a few and they are peppy as hell i couldnt imagine how crazy double the horse power would be in that thing!! awesome build cant wait to see the motor in there!!!!!!!
