      1962 800a!

My first car was a '69 800a 304 4wd. Most of my mechanical skills were honed on that beast as I had to fabricate just about every mod.

'62 most likely have the bulletproof 152 4 banger right?

      I still have a '64 at the house.:D All stock,stripper 2wd. Runs like a top.

I highly recommend you get yours on the road, i put it off way too long and it's just wasted time not driving.

So true, every time i stop at least one person is going to come up to me to talk. I just went and picked up some dog food and was on the road for 13 miles, had my picture taken 3 times and lost track of the stares, smiles, thumbsup, etc. This thing is the polar opposite of my 911 which gets me stinkeye 99% of the time.

          Nice Scout Mark!

Mine is a early '62 Scout 80 so it has all the weird early model stuff (except the IH stamped liftgait). Yes, mine is a 152 cu 4 cyl which is a 304 V8 with one bank of cylinders milled off for those who are not familiar. It truly is a vehicle from another era with leather used as a seal in multiple areas, no input shaft seal on the tranny, vacuum wipers, etc. I have a full metal roof, a half cab, and a full soft roof for it.

I think the last time I saw it there was a roof on it. It totally threw me off when you texted me the pic, I was like, did he chop the top or something. Shows exactly how much I know about scouts...

It's a completely different machine with the roof off, feels like the CG is lowered 2 feet which makes a difference with no sway bars!

Haha! I remember trying to take the roof off by myself when I was a kid. Dad told me not to, but of course, I tried it anyway. Ended up dropping it off the back and shredding the paint all the way down to the bumper...FAIL.

                  ^ No Doubt!

I have perfected the one man full roof removal out of necessity and i feel like Atlas when i do it, only cautious/nervous as fuck. I just about lost it to a gust of wind one time though...

Awesome! My uncle has one, he took us on some muddy roads and water crossings in it as kids, they have so much character.

My dad had one of those when I was quite young. IH put the rocker shaft in upside down
so that the rockers wore out after something like 30,000 miles. They bought him
new parts, and he got to put them in, so I got the old rockers to play with...
...most kids got big wheels and shit, I got worn out IH rockers.

And yeah, there's a big, funky- ass metal plate covering the missing bank of cylinders...

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

                              This model Scout is bad!

This truck is nice! More images? Engine? Interior? Vid? Glad to see this machine on the road again!
