Kelly and James at insane innovations will be mounting the LS. Cage is nearly done, they are at FD Alanta right now so I'm looking to start the swap next week!

As in positive to the battery? lol

Digging the change of plans! Are you going to custom fab engine mounts? Crossmember? 1 peice custom driveshaft? Never really looked at what it takes to drop an ls1 in an e30... lol

This is hilarious. So Ive got the S52 in my buddies car all hooked up and I cant get spark. When I swapped it into my car I couldnt get fuel, now the only other thing I need to get this car running I cant get. The DME is fine, tested in another car and it fired up. The crank sensor was replaced with a genuine bmw one. I tested for continuity in the circuit for the crank sensor and it came out fine. Engine is grounded as well as coils. What else can I check?!

Mounting on the bumper shocks is a good idea. My bar has mounts just like the base of the bumper shock and the bar is tacked on to the mount.

    Jezza,

Can you show me how the bash bar is mounted? I was thinking of using stock bumper shocks and mounting the bar to them, which would give some play in the event i hit anything. Also what diameter and thickness bar is that?

Edit; massive lee sells the caliper mounts. Not cheap.

So here is whats going down.

The front end of the car is stripped down, and it is back at insane innovations to get a full FD spec cage as well as some tubing on the front end. The S52 is sitting in the garage and will most likely be dropped into my buddies e30 tomorrow. I'm hoping to get this done fairly quickly since its the second time around. After thats out of the way I will be pulling the LS from the camaro and we'll start to work on getting it mounted into my e30. Some other things will be added to the car as well this time around, such as a pedal box and a dual caliper hydro handbrake setup. Speaking of which, does anyone know of anyone who has fab'd up dual caliper mounts for e30s?

    Some Forzaaa

Its just a car, it could get totalled and nothinh could be done. We can't take anything with us when we die, might as well have fun with it while we're here!

I know what a missile is. Thats what this car started as but I have gotten pretty serious with trying to compete so I guess its not so much of a car I can just throw around anymore. As for the camaro, I simply got lucky. Trust me, I never get deals on anything but I think I got a good deal on this. Five grand for the car, its not wrecked, Ive been driving it here and there.

I'm actually not a fan of F-bodys at all and I know its sad for people that are into this car to see it stripped of its drivetrain but oh well. If anyone wants the chassis let me know.

In other news, Formula Drift Long Beach was a blast.

Excited to see anouther v8 e30 drifting but .....

Please dont call it a missile. A missile is a car you use to practice getting close so you dont destroy your nice car. This is just a driftcar that hasnt been painted yet.

    Otherwise looks fun.

I'm willing to bet the car is either trashed or it's wrecked. It's not easy to get a deal on a decent F-body SS with an LS1 that you can just rip the guts out of. Then again I could be wrong. Anything can happen when you live in a town with a bunch of college students who need beer money! Or need to pay off a DUI...
