Installed a reman distributor today, hoping to fix my high rpm cut-out.

Success!! Best part? One of our customers who's Avant a4 we just finished up purchased it for me as a tip! This thing feels like an entirely different animal now. Pulls hard until I'm afraid to take it any higher, not so sure this is an e303 cam....

Hoping to get on the track tonight, Gopro is charging as we speak.

Straight track, she's not ready for a curvy track... Though that is my end goal.

I'm not even really planning on launching it hard, as wheel hop is a serious problem in 1st right now. Just an easy start, get her into 2nd gear, and roll into it.

If I can get it into the 13's doing that, I'll be satisfied. Even then, I'm honestly only concerned with the trap speed... That will give me everything I need to know. It feels incredible right now though, pulls just as hard in 4th as 3rd.

I may have completely missed it, so please forgive me, but are you running stock heads? In that case, the stock cam may be a good thing. The e303 cam actually runs worse with the stock exhaust ports on the stock heads.

If I'm an idiot and I've missed that they're aftermarket heads, disregard this.

Just throwing this out there, but we may need to do a E30 5.0 Continental meet. Funf, Exodus, Ironfreak, Mako, Monstere30, and balski go tear up someones town haha.

Heads are 60's 351 windsor heads. I checked the numbers and found out they flow a little bit better than gt40 heads, and have a smaller combustion chamber, so higher compression. Also paired with 1.6 SVO rockers and the cobra intake.

I'm also not so sure that it's only a 302. While the rods don't look forged, they definitely aren't stock 302 rods. Also considering the thing has ARP hardware holding everything together... I have my suspicions that someone didn't just piece this thing together.

I have some video I took today on the ride home. Got a nice 2nd and 3rd gear pull in for reference.

I'm not a movie maker... So here's some highlights from yesterday's drive.

Gotta love the torque, rolling onto it in 2nd gear and kicking it sideways ever so slightly always puts a grin on my face. 2nd-3rd pull at the end.

Had a scare yesterday. When leaving for work in the morning I noticed the clutch engagement was very close to the floor. Pulled over and found very little brake fluid in the reservoir. I didn't see any signs of a leak and the brake pedal was rock solid, so I topped it off and headed off to work. The clutch pedal returned to normal.

Last night I threw it up on the lift to rebuild my trans cross member and checked it over for leaks at the same time. No leaks found. Finished up the mount and dropped it on the ground, popped the hood and what do I find? An almost empty brake reservoir again.

This time I added some and looked inside, sure enough it's pouring down the firewall at the pedals. Turned out when I installed the booster delete I didn't get the clutch return spring seated properly, and it eventually snapped the plastic fitting that attaches the hose to the cylinder.

I got lucky an was able to make a new fitting, and an awesome neighbor helped me bleed it. Ended up taking me 2 hours, but it's good as new and my wallet is the same weight!

Moral of the story? When you're in there, ditch that stupid spring.

Car has been cutting out when hot lately. I would be driving, it would die, sit for 10 minutes, and fire back up.

Jumped the EEC relay, which worked for a day, and then it died again.

Changed some wiring yesterday and opened up the A9L, to find a burned capacitor and broken ground lead on the main ECM ground. Yipee!

Luckily I found a matching capacitor at Radioshack, fixed that and ran a new wire from the board, out of the box and grounded with the harness ground wire (didn't want to cut it, because I am now in the market for a new a9l).

Fixed everything, mostly. With the relay it will sputter out, but not quite die. When jumped it will run all day, relay is also getting relatively hot, but the jumper wire stays cool.

Anyone have an EEC relay laying around? The damn things sell for $50 on ebay, and no aftermarket parts store carries them. It may be time for a junkyard run to grab 4 and hope 1 works.

Did you figure out the vibration?

Sorry haven't actually sat down on here yet to update.

To answer your question, kind of, maybe?

I installed new plugs gapped to .035, new coil, new harmonic balancer, solid mounts, checked the gear on the distributor (just installed about a week ago, solved a high rpm miss).

Today I dumped codes and didn't get anything of use, just egr and air pump faults, which I have neither of. Did a power balance test, and passed. With that said, I installed the plugs this morning, and the drive home was great. I still have some resonating vibration, but the violent vibes in the shifter are gone.

Pulling out of the gas station I decided to see what would happen under wot, and the car has its balls back. Back end was all over the place through 2nd gear.

I'm thinking it was a soft miss, the previous owner of the engine claimed he had just done a full tune up on it, and I had checked the plugs which looked OK. Who knows, it was probably a combination of problems.

Next order of business is to get smaller diameter steel driveshaft. Pretty sure the aluminum is still contacting the body at 60+ when coasting.

Spray paint a stripe all the way down the driveshaft, if it is contacting something it will scrape the paint off and you will know where. Maybe an easy fix and you can keep the light weight alum shaft.

                                Good point, I'll do that.

I really don't want to give up the aluminum, especially with the amount of time I already have into making it work.
