FML, misfire is back.
Going to pull the upper this afternoon and check injector pulses with the noid lights, then tonight start it up in the dark to see if any spark is arcing.
If all else fails, there's always fire and gasoline.
Also, anyone have a a9l computer laying around? I replaced a capacitor and main ground in mine, it seems to be working but I would love to swap one in and see what happens. It's funny this motor related vibration started soon after I repaired the ECM. (which went from cutting out, to running like this)No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

That is really odd.....
Just by chance? are you running the HO firing order? I know that may sound silly and don't take offence if you are, I just know there are people out there they don;t realize that motor is capable of running on two different firing orders. one is just severely harder in the #1 main bearing.....hence the H.O. firing order was introduced.sigpic

No offense taken, I actually was running the old firing order on the first start up. Figured it out quick though because it was backfiring. I have literally re-checked the firing order about 10 times now.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

Just checked again for good measure.

Well let me know the deal with the injectors. I'll have my old stock ones I won't be using, if that's the case you pickup shipping and I'll send them out to you.sigpic

Just set it to TDC, and pulled the distributor cap, rotor isn't even quite to the #1 post.
I'm an idiot, cannot believe I overlooked this for so long. Will report back soon.
If it isn't painfully obvious yet, this is my first venture into older tech. Used to turbo 4 bangers! No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

Lol Thing is, with a timing light it was set dead on 16*.
Probably firing multiple cylinders at a time though lol. Lucky for me it was past the #1 a bit, so it's safe to say I went full retard on this one.....No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

Meh, I was wrong again lol.
Once I moved the rotor one tooth, I ended up being out of adjustment range. So apparantly the rotor being off with the timing set at 15-16* was an illusion, because if I move the tooth it is way off. fml.No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

Massaged the undercarriage a little more today after painting the driveshaft and locating the problem areas.
For WHATEVER reason, this seemed to help with my vibration issues in the lower end. I don't know why, unless the driveshaft was able to rattle against the body even when sitting still... I honestly couldn't tell you. Also installed a new front u-joint.
I need to do a little more work as it still starts to hit past 70mph or so, but it is close. I'm still getting a high rpm vibration, curious if it will too be gone once my driveshaft issues are sorted.
Interesting note, found out today that I have a Jasper short block. Going to find the numbers this week and call up Jasper for the low down. I should be able to find out when it was built, sold, and specs. Possibly from their performance sector? Who knows! Best news is that the Jasper engines are sold with a little over heat indicator on a freeze plug, mine wasn't triggered. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.
