With enough money anything is possible. A custom tubular sub-frame could be made.

I have built 2 324td's, the current one is a 324TDiC, yup a convertible currently sporting a factory hardtop as I ran some land speed record trials. The build is pretty easy as far as transplants go, all the mounts line up, the exhaust downpipe from the 524 works, Both the cars I have built were used on the track and have been covered by Grassroots Motorsports so there may be some info on their site. Most recently I set the car up to ru on straight grease and ran it at VIR south course.I really want to run the car on the street on straight grease but need to rebuild a pump and get a new cam...with the worn out cam and running on Bio the car was able to keep up with Spec e30's at NC-CAR, the only mods being the audi intercooler and turning the fuel pump screw.

Even though I run these on the track, I have avoided the temptation to mod the engine for more HP...I think it would be pretty easy to get the same #'s of a gas engine but over that you are going to be spending $$$$$

            Cheers

2.5 liter 5 cylinder with a 5 speed, no turbo.

It is what it is. Learning about drive-shaft angle now. Shooting for 40 M.P.G.. I beat the shit out of the passenger footwell with a bunch of hammers, for the exhaust. It looks good...trust me.

Nice progress! BMW doesn't use a driveline angle, the centerline of the crank points directly at the center of the input flange of the diff giving a straight driveshaft. The input of the diff is slightly off center so the straight driveshaft hits the diff at a very slight angle.

If your driveshaft is going to have a u-joint in the front and rear you could straighten the engine in the chassis and run equal and opposed driveshaft angles in a horizontal plane. If you do this, try to keep the angles in one plane only and have at least 1 degree of angle on each end so the u-joints will rotate and not wear out too quickly.

I'm going to try and use a laser pointer from the output shaft of the transmission, to line up the engine and transmission with the rear axle flange.
