Hmm I'll take the CD43 if it's working properly. PS I see a small M10 powered car has made up from the south.

Sure thing, has a 6-disc changer in the trunk as well, but need to verify operation. Will let you know.

Yeah, the 02 got here a few weekends ago. Already rewired the headlight harness and a few other burned/non-working bits. Engine has a knock, but I already knew that, just need to get the Korman 2.2 in it...

Am I seriously the only one thats drooling all over that flywheel and clutch? The ITBs are wicked but I think I would pick that flywheel and clutch! I bet its a massive difference over the stock dual mass+clutch 30lbs worth of rotating mass.

First track day is about 10 days away and I'm going to wait on installing most of these goodies. Broke the intake cam a few weeks back, but picked up a number of other items. The M50TU in there is really clean and in great shape so I'm not going to mess with it (too much) right now. Look at the head on my junkyard M50TU!

The rear suspension is still completely apart and is getting the MZ3 stuff as soon as I can get new hardlines for the trailing arms. And I need to swap in some Schrick cams, S52 Trays/Lifters and a bunch of other maintenance items.

Also, a big shout out to Levent @ Gutenparts for all the goodies a few weeks back!

Wow I had no idea this was getting such a makeover!

Emmm dem ITB's... Definitely tempted to do something like that with my S52, possibly S54 ITB's with an adapter plate.

            Goodluck getting her ready!

Thanks guys! The ITB's were from sharky who also suffers from a similar bmw hoarding complex and was going to run them on his S52 turbo. Will be waiting until I install the S50 or S52 to put those on.

And I am so excited for the shifter, right now the one I have sits way to low for easy access when driving with my hands at 10/2.

Just installed a schrick exhaust cam and schrick copy intake cam for a little more power at the track next Saturday. Has an awesome lumpy idle now and should be a nice upgrade! The driver's side M Roadster trailing arm is all fubar'd (toe is way out from being hit) but I have a replacement that should be in tomorrow.

No pics, but I'll have some video footage of the engine running or from my track day.

Nope! That flywheel/clutch is what made me keep reading past the first post!

Ben, where did you pick up that flywheel/clutch combo, and how is it for a track car?

I found it on the BFC classifieds FS a few months ago and paid around $1K for it with a spare set of new discs.

Haven't actually installed it yet, but it is really a track only piece. Is not meant to slipped at all and needs to have an adjustable clutch stop setup as to not overextend the throwout bearing.

                        It's a $2K piece new from Turner - http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-40...-assembly.aspx

Yeah it probably wouldnt last a few thousand miles as a DD but on the track I bet that will feel incredible, I am very jealous. My only concern with it though is vibration. Are you planning to do any work with the crankshaft? It seems if the crank had any imbalance to it from the factory(which it probably does, hence the 25 lbs flywheel), could there be damage done to bearings and other things after shedding 20+ lbs of rotating mass?

I keep leaning more and more towards getting one of those akg shifters. Let us know how you like it and if its a shifter that can be enjoyed on the street or if it should just remain on the track? Orrrr is it just personal preference?

                            Love my AKG shifter btw.

Ben, thanks for the link, that's quite spendy! I'd be $3k into a clutch/flywheel setup after my blue one took a dump a few data after insulation.

^^ it looks awesome. love the tall shifter, never been a fan of the really short ones. I like the short throw, not height.

I think the AKG is only really a good track only piece due to the required use of aluminum/very stiff poly mounts since the shifter is solid mounted to the transmission tunnel. And its crazy notchy/short throw with the Getrag 250. You might try the X5 3.0 shift lever, that seems to be popular with a stockish tall shifter.

I don't plan on doing any crank work and from what I've read as long as the RPMs are kept below 7200, there shouldn't be any issue with the harmonics. I'm considering doing a lightweight pulley setup as well to "balance" the lack of weight on the flywheel side, but I've heard of a high failure rate. I may just install in my M50 or an M52 since they don't have the balance issues that S50/S52s have.

Eric, that video is awesome and shifter is sweet ;)! I really want to go S54, but stupidly tied up a bunch of money in m50/s50/s52 stuff right now so I'm going to go with that for now.

Here are some pics of the completed work and the "KuStom" brake lines to match up with my MZ3 rear calipers. Made a quick mount that tethers the hardline to the lower shock bolt since I wanted to retain my new E30 SS softlines. My camera broke and I had to use my iPhone for a few.

Why is there no E-brake assembly? Because Racecar.

Here is my helper monkey in the background.
