    Why no dimples?
The gussets are really narrow. Ross figured the dimples would have to be tiny to fit on there, and thus wouldn't add much strength. Honestly, for what Ross is using the car for, this cage should suffice...and then some!

I'd rather have a cage that was tight to the car and small gussets than one with dimpled gussets that was several inches off the pillars and such... Wider view out the glass, and probably safer with the bars further away from the driver... So  to you sir!

The cage work looks great but that main diagonal won't pass tech if you're looking at doing most sanctioned stuff. The diagonal has to be one tube and the harness bar should be the one that is split. I had to help cut those same bars out of a friends car for the same reason.

          Sounds fair
I've just always seen dimples in the windshield gussets.

          Keep up the good work!

That was my goal when designing the cage. I'm already a big guy, i didn;t want to take up a bunch more space with the cage so I got it as close to the car as possible.

you know, I've been thinking about this myself. I based most of the cage of the scca rule book and there biggest clarification was that the main hoop had to be of one piece. but the more I look at other cages....they're all the opposite of mine......oh well I can cut that out....it's just metal. Thank you for saying something.

yeah and trust me, I was SO close to ordering a die to do it. there is pictures further back in the thread on just how close the A and B pillar tubes are to the chassis. the dimples would have been about a 1/2" in size. When it was said and done I think that it would have looked silly. The weight reduction the dimple would have offered would have been so minimal anyways it would have been a waist of time and money. Thanks for the compliment though....more updates in the next 2 weeks.

I just double checked the NASA CCR (Section 15.6.7/Figure 15.6.7b) and the SCCA GCR and it looks like you're right. I was always under the impression that it was supposed to be one piece, but from either of those rule books it looks like that it would be fine. Don't mind me....

Yeah see I didnt see that anywhere either. maybe its a hidden rule. I do it the other way on the next cars I have lined up. And like I said if for some reason that is wrong. it;s just metal. I can cut it out and redo it.
