I was able to spend more time this weekend with the holiday working on the car. I'll put together a post of everything I've done for you to see in the next day or two. Cage is almost complete, just trying to sort through some of the small tedious BS.sigpic

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Well I'll start with this, It's my present I made for my dad......and yes there is some e30 in it, the brake rotor is off the rear of my car. Then I used an LS cam shaft and timing chain gear, He loved it.
Ok onto the car.
I got the rear lats and x brace all done, and proceeded to weld...I'm to freakin big for this crap haha!
Need to clean up the welds but its coming along nicely I think.
Onto the front feet mounts. I had asked a question on FB about this and looked at several builds from Condor, DTM cars even some FD cars and came up with this design. The strength of the chassis in this area is actually the side rails not the floor so I wanted to tie into that as much as possible. So I plugged the floor and made a bottom and back plate.
Then I welded all that up.
Then I cut these two plates and placed them like so.
Welded that up then made small caps plates to finish it out.
And a straight on look. Not the prettiest welds I've put down but it wasn't exactly easy to get too....
As you can see..........
To damn big..........
Anyways I got the other side finished up, and the dash bar welded in as well.
My buddy Adam (unloadedak) cut some gussets out for me and I get the fronts welded in.
Yes...there are no holes or dimples, and for this reason. The bar fits so close to the A-pillar the holes would have been like a 1/2" big to allow clearance for the dimple, in the end I just thought it would look crappy. I'll just past some stickers from the awesome parts guys that have a place on my car there.
I did break out the tig for the tube weld since the whole world will see it.
No to shabby for free hand as I couldn't find my hot finger.
And really that's about it for pictures, I was interrupted quite a few times with people coming to buy parts and yack. but it's all good. I'm feeling REALLY happy about the build and what's going to happen in the next few months.
Stay tuned.sigpic

Spent a good part of my weekend working on my DD and wifes car and friends cars but I did manage a few hours on the racecar. Its -27deg. today here in Nebraska (temp. index). It cracked the radiator in my car, killed the starter in the truck and more damage to my friends car.
Anyways, after fixing all that and cleaning up I sat in my Corbeau seat and stared at the car and decided I would finish the gusset bracing to the chassis.
My welder was acting really weird when I was welding, so I stopped wiggled the lead and it stopped welding all together. Pulling it apart one of the trigger wires broke loose. I fixed it and it welded a LOT better.
And that was about it. slowly but surely making progress.sigpic

Dedicated! hahaha, well I guess that's true.....I just change my mind a lot. But I think I can blame that on time away from the car and to much time on r3v. This whole thread might just get locked when its done haha, to confusing. That or I'll make a very condensed version of however it ends up.sigpic
