I think people did it because it was "easier" before the OBD2 stuff got cracked. I went OBD1 because I am going to try and make my swap legal, and I feel OBD1 will be easier. we'll see. its almost time to deal with that headache

North of SLO? Yep. Some of the nicest people I've ever met - they even offered us fresh chicken eggs to take home. They sold it because the check light came on and they thought they wouldn't be able to smog it. I plan to do the usual maintenance, clean it up and maybe have my dad tool it around for a while.
Props on this thread, I'll be following to see where it ends up!1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

The unibody and doors are super clean, no rust spotted yet either. Both fenders need to be replaced and the hood is borderline. Their daughter traded a year of babysitting for the car in 2007. Runs beautifully and came with a binder of records. Definitely exceeded expectations!1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

boom!
the removal went super smoothly. anyone want this thing? fresh water pump, belt, tensioner, t-stat and plugs. would like to sell it whole before I part out the 731 head and the distributor.
other updates; fenders are in the process of being rolled, I'm starting to gather S52 parts, and all the rear end welding is done. The front window gutter rust is all that's left, and that should be a simple wire wheel job once I pull the dash out.
I've still been unsuccessful at finding a body shop that'll paint it for me. Either they only do insurance jobs, or their backlog on completes is about a year, or they want $15,000. Ideas anyone?

wasnt Oliver doing paintjobs for a good price??? Im sure if you paid him a little more, he can do a higher quality job. Not to say his regular sprays are cheap. Ask Erix how his came out? Not too far from you eitherSimon

the box is theoretically sitting in our mailroom here.. I've not had a chance to go grab it yet.
We did decently well yesterday despite a lot of issues. blew our newly build M90 on Friday before we even started racing, swapped in a B32 overnight, ran hot but ok for all of saturday, good enough to be #1 for some time and to end the day in 7th. on sunday the ECU finally shat out, but it took us an hour to find out that this happened so we dropped out of the top 10 and had to fight our way from the 30s up to 18th.
overall a good weekend! I'm really exhausted but can't wait for more. Next race is the Thunderhill 5 mile in September!
