Wow! I'm liking your car more & more. The wed wheels remind of old set that bought 24 years ago for my e30 m3. I'm glad the wed wheel and adapters worked out. Now I look forward to doing this to my car.

flushed out nasty black brake fluid, put in motul RBF600, fixed some small things and got started on the radio installation. A neat, unexpected benefit of running adapters is that my wheels are so far out that I don't need to take them off to get to the bleeder nipples.
did this a few weeks ago to the dogleg, felt like a right idiot:
managed to straighten it out with some manhandling yesterday, but got a non-dogleg spare if it turns out to be damaged more than just superficially..
also some new seats! They need a bit of work. The vinyl ones are fs.

I'll be the only one on here and vote no on the Mtech. I prefer just plain bumpers on early euro cars.1985 M10b18. 70maybewhpoffury. Over engineered S50b30 murica BBQ swap in progress.

I had a few hours and an extra pair of hands tonight... threw it up on the lift, took off the exhaust, heat shields, driveshaft, and mostly got the auto trans disconnected. I'll probably have a go at pulling it tomorrow night, and then start working on getting the dogleg ready to go in. It needs some TIG attention, the bellhousing looks like this:
The damage looks like a completely, utterly exploded pressure plate required cutting a hole in the bellhousing to unbolt it from the flywheel. Hopefully the trans itself survived this event (apparently suffered during "desert endurance racing in Saudi Arabia"), but I'm thinking of taking it to a shop to verify that the internals are in respectable condition, cause swapping transmissions twice doublesucks.
I played with a rpm calculator for a bit, a 1:1 5th and a 3.23 diff puts me at 225 more RPM at 80 over a typical 325i, which is survivable.
I've also put some thought toward eventual engine plans. I recently acquired the stripped shell of an '85 745i, with complete, running and rebuilt m106 turbo engine - the logical thing to do was to put it in the 635, rebuild the m90 that's in it now, and put the m90 in the 323. However, the years don't work too well because of CA smog laws which require the new engine being newer than its recipient; the 635 is a '78, so I can't put its engine into an '83
The only way I can find homes for both M30 derivatives is by rebuilding the 6's m90, but putting the turbo engine into the e30, resulting in arguably the most technically CA-legal turbo m30e30 possible.
if it passes smog.

Install m106 turbo in your e30 and crank the boost to 15psi. I use to own a Mike Detiel Alpina euro e21 turbo 345i. It had a m106 turbo. The power was at 310hp 370tq at 15psi.Projects Hartge,Alpina & AC Schnitzer Builds.http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=280601

Finally got a bit of time to take the old trans out. I found out the reason it wouldn't shift into 4th gear - it's a 3hp22.
The removal went smoothly, nothing bad happened. About to start putting a trans back in. I've decided to stick with a regular getrag 260, because I don't trust the dogleg. It will go off to a shop to have its bellhousing fixed and its internals checked out.
