Ok cool. I was going to eliminate the line from the engine back and loop it a few times and let it vent. I read I believe a 68ohm resister will keep the check engine light from coming on.91 318is M50 swapped

mine vents under the brake booster somewhere so that's why i get the smell would definitely be better under the car. Just consulted my pics looks like I ditched the canister and the check valve but I do have a cel for 02/emissions let me know if the resistor does the trick Id like to get rid of the cel.Last edited by chrisbmx68; 03-19-2014, 11:21 AM.

Picked up a set of Denso platinum single tip plugs and it really did seem to help with the hesitation.
Another slight issue came about today. Twice today when i went to start it, it cranked for about 10x longer than normal before starting and struggled for a second once started. Seems like week fuel pressure. It did it before I changed the plugs so I know it's not related. Fuel filter is fairly new but the pump is likely OE so it very well could be going out.91 318is M50 swapped

Car has been running well the last 3 or 4 weeks. Working out a few slight kinks but nothing major. Although with warm weather approaching I can't put off installing my Spal fan anymore. Got stuck in some traffic last night and had to pull over as it crept past the 3/4 mark and had to shut it off for a bit till traffic started moving. Also want to flush and refill my coolant and reseal the thermostat housing so I'll take care of all that this week. And I need to fix my blower motor....again. So it looks like the intake manifold gets to come back off.91 318is M50 swapped

Have any good pictures of the intake to stock booster clearance, or how much you needed to shave down the intake, does your engine move enough with the e28 mounts to rub at all there?Shawn @ Bimmerbuddies

Those trans mounts are going to transmit alot more vibrations than anything. I stuck with all stock rubber mounts for now (except a poly dif bushing) and mine is as smooth as ever. I would like to upgrade to the condor mounts though, I like the feel of solid driveline bushings.91 318is M50 swapped

Good catch. I do actually have 1/4 body spacers on the mounts.
As a disclosure I'm fully aware that putting a small dent in the brake booster isn't exactly the right way to do this. It did however work for me and has for 15K miles without a single ill effect. I will be replacing the booster down the road but for a budget swap, it is a do able option.
Updated current pictures. Haven't done anything but change the oil since the swap. Still puts a smile on my face. Looking into low boost turbo options for next year.
