I ask because I replaced an oil filter housing gasket and it started leaking again like 2k miles later grrrrr. Also supercharged fwiw. I'll check tightness of the bolts. You're right though, can't hurt to loc-tite.

Is it common the oil filter housing bolts to come loose and need loctite?

Popped on the S54 oil filter housing and the power steering. Torqued everything down with loc-tite.

I cleaned out the threads in the block for the head bolts then I starting reading that people prep their block with a honing stone before they install the CES cut-ring head gasket. Should I do this? Thoughts?

Nice idea for mounting the gauge in the vent, I never really thought of doing it myself. Sweet!Leave a comment:

3 ways to get friends:
- Own a truck
- Own a trailer
- Bimmer parts @ cost
Let's be friends, k thanks. Stoked to follow your MS build as well. I sold my Whodwho pnp unit since my buddy gave me his MS2 board so an MS3 upgrade is in the works when the time comes. I really liked the ease of use with the stock ECU box pnp. Clean work on that vent gauge!Leave a comment:

Vent oil temp gauge install:

Mark your spots to cut

Cut

Small cuts and some sanding of the upper and lower edges and she fits!

Now on to the fun part.

That's all for now, folks!Leave a comment:

Out with the old, in with the new!!
Brand new S54 oil housing on the left, S52 on the right.

Just ordered the 14mm to 12mm Vanos banjo bolt from VAC Motorsports.

That housing takes up so much room!
