26mm thickness Just need to mill the hub opening. Looks promising and should fit in a 17 in wheel
With a rotor of that diameter, do you need to make a caliper bracket to bring the caliper out farther from the hub centerline, to get 340mm in there?

Yes We havent gotten that far yet. We are just trying to find the correct rotor that will fit.. Then build the bracket for that rotor

Nice. this is the rare case when "hai guize, I want to do an S85 E30 M3 with bugg braeks" isn't just a troll post. :p

still planning on using MS3? I'd love to help you with the stock DME but they don't exactly fall out of trees. :p

              any other ideas?

Instead of trying and hoping on a bunch of different rotors, it honestly might be easier to run an AP or will wood rotor with a custom hat. Design the hat once and just buy replacement disc (cheap from willwood) instead of boring hubs or re drilling lug patterns at every brake maintenance interval.

I guess trying a few different rotors doesn't have the same constraints ($$$) when your a parts distribution kingpin...

You may be right Eric ... we were just hoping for an off the shelf solution.. But its looking more and more like that may be more feasible

We have been doing lots of research looking for off the shelf rotors that will work with the 135 6 piston calipers on the E30 M3. The biggest issue with the M3 is there is VERY little clearance between the rotor and the tie rod. When you go with a really big rotor. The stock M3 rotor is very shallow, right around 40mm.

So after digging through lots and lots of different rotor specs for all different cars we think we have found something that will work. This rotor is 330mm by 28mm and NOT off a BMW. Once we know everything will work we will say what it is off of. We don't want misinformation out there. It is only 39mm deep so there is around 7mm of clearance at the tie rod.

Now this rotor will need some machining but it is close. The center bore will have to be opened up a little bit and the wheel studs will need to be ob-longed inward.

                  Ultra flat rotor.

                  Bolt holes are close...

Ground down the rub of the m3 bearing (will be replaced anyway) to be able to set the rotor flat against the hub.

                  Tie rod clearance

                  Need to make a bracket...

Mocking up in a 17" wheel

Now this wheel will not clear the caliper. If you look there is some wood stacked to get it to clear. So we will need a different wheel setup. There is around 22mm of "spacer" right now.

The mounting holes on that 135 caliper are in a strange orientation....
But seem to be cool for adapter brackets. Can't wait to see final specs.

that's pretty tight caliper clearance. This is with no spacer and new pads, right?

The other stock bracket is removed already.

Yes it is very close... Those are just mock up pics. Won't know clearance until we find a different wheel. 2mm is enough between the spoke and caliper. These calipers don't move anywhere once mounted. Not a sliding caliper.

Judging how close the bolt holes are maybe its something 'merican that came in a 5x4.75" bolt pattern, aka 5x120.65?

can't wait to see how this plays out for you guys it looks like your onto something!

my '67 Dart had manual drums on all for corners. talk about stopping power! it was like having an early version of ABS, since you couldn't possibly lock them up. :p
