Been driving the car around all weekend and more today. It runs pretty good now. Still can't wonder how EFI will change the car, or turbo. I really really want to turbo this car. I've gotten used to the 150 furious horsepowers of this car. I need another hundred.

Here is another quick snapshot from earlier this evening. The 71 Type 2 Bus may become a future project.

This little car is so great. The color is growing on me, and I feel better when the car looks better. And right now the car feels good.

          Thanks guys.

Forgot to mention that I polished it on Friday so it's super shiny now. Sealed it with Caranuba wax and will rewax this week for that extra seal. No idea how long the shine will last, but I'll do my best to keep it around.

Also, I ripped out the carpet in prep for the new carpet. I'll start on that this week and get some detailed photos of the project.

I'll also get a few shots of my headliner. I'ts in rough shape, but could possibly be saved. Just don't know if I want to replace it, or dye it black for the time being. Never dyed a headliner and this would be a good car to do it to.

Photos to come this week. Or even today. I'm at work but I'm not really doing much. Time may be better spent working on the car.

Dvck, great job on the Pshop.

Ryan, keep up the good work.

You should hold out for a split window doka. It would be a cool parts hauler.

There is a guy on mye28 selling a nice m10 turbo setup that is worth a look into.

A split window kombi is the dream. Except I can't find any under $35k that are worth buying. And anything really nice is already over $50k.

Called him last month. Not what I'm looking for unfortunately.

                  Today's developments:

So I bought a set of early euro reproduction bumperettes and rear seam convers from that guy on Northern California Craigslist and they came about 30 minutes ago. Naturally I decided to drop everything and install at least the front bumperettes. Except I was soon met with an issue; a rather large issue.

The driver's side unit installed fine. The bolt coming from the bumperette passed through the bumper, the spacer, and the bumper metal mounting frame thing that bolts to the frame rail. The passenger side was a different story.

The passenger repro unit came with a significantly shorter bolt that failed to pass through all required bumper parts, and I was unable to secure it to the bumper. See photos for bolt length differences:

                  See?

After an attempt to install it, you can see how the bolt is too short:

And here is the photo of the current configuration. Driver's side is installed, passenger side remains with a US-variant bumperette. Goofy but the contrast in side is great.

Time to contact the seller and make this right.

Tack a piece of allthread to the end to lengthen it?

I see. I lost touch with air-cooled VW realities when I sold my Notch.

take the rubber bit off and swap the longer bolt from your other overrider.

however, IMO no-overriders is the best look.

Yea that rubber piece should come off, you may have to glue it back on afterwords, but then just replace the bolt.
