Damn man! A friend of mine got hit 2 weeks ago and is on the same boat as you, people that hit him weren't insured, weren't registered, and to top it off, weren't legal! No green card. I saw in a magazine a guy who bought a e28 M5 on eBay, it was rusted to crap and he had no idea, but used the engine and a bunch of the parts and put it into a 528e. He called it his "M5 Clone". That's the route I'd go.
