Washing off the dust...



Clean! I cannot wait to cut and buff and clay and detail the craaaaaap out of this!



Wired up the megasquirt and soldered the electronic boost controller


Tore down the diff for cleaning and parts replacing. (I took very few pics of this step because people including myself offer this as a service and I respect keeping certain aspects a "trade secret")




Machine cleaned and polished all the nasty mating surfaces and stuff. Bearings, races, seals, and orings all replaced. Gears were actually perfect mesh still. Tolarance was less than +/-.005"


I wanted a "m" finned diff cover.. but for now I just blasted and painted the stock cover.


Blasted case, reassembled, painted. Word!

Got her running!.. wooooo.. although its a quick mockup of things, (not neatly installed vaccum hookups etc) its a crude test. I tried taking an initial video of the FIRST start attempt and deleted it accidentally uploading. Heres the official second startup while at operating temp. Sounds smooth to me!.. used turbo got alittle smokey, going to take it apart and check the seals and bearings. Probably needs a rebuild. Anybody have any good suggestions on a particular efficient/reliable turbo for a max of 18psi to see around 380whp max?

It cracks me up that a little smoke means a complete rebuild to you. Props to that. Most people (probably me too) would say f- it.

Great spool and small physical size and weight :) I used a 6765 on my previous M20B28 and it was great!
Im sure there are other good turbos as well but after my experience i would choose a 5558, or as you said a 6262 if you want more than ~500hp.

Used a Holset HX40 on a M20B25 a long time ago and that worked great as well.

This is an amazing build. The start-up video is really cool too. I cannot believe that is an M20 sounding like that!

I think with your exhaust it should make sense to stay in the 2.5" range if you are doing dual back all the way. It will keep it sounding really good.

I wanted to ask you about the steering rack and u-joints. I have the IE steering coupler that needs to go in my IX and I cannot figure out how to take the u-joints off for the replacement. Do you need to drop the rack you'd figure or can it be done in the IX without dropping the rack?

Steering wheel should be black leather since your asking for opinions.

If you bear with me some, i will have the latest updates on this car.. i had a String of bad luck, a move, in and out of work, but im back in action for the most part. Shes pretty much sat at where she was when last seen here, so get ready for allot of fun and exciting new things!. Bodywork, suspension, and engine related. ;)
