Resto e30 ix (because 1 BMW is not enough)

So I had a derp moment and picked up a 1990 325ix..because my m3 is not enough...Let's just say she needs love

For under a k price for a running 5 speed ix I couldn't pass it

    Pics to follow

    So 230k (what ever)

Need of head gasket small coolant leak above exhaust manifold

Rear dif seal small leak just enough to make it wet and nasty

    Suspension is gone

(PO said odo and speed stopped working) well I hit some bumps and after bouncing all over hell from the suspension the speedo spazzed out and started to function. All the way home >_> 70miles O_o. Don't ask I have no clue

Next the body is fucked.. I have to replace all 4 doors, hood, front fenders, and cut and weld in rear and kicker panels

Good news is the frame is solid O_o

Trans shits and engine performed amazingly all the way home

    Plans are as follows

Fix head gasket (goetez and arp head studs ^_~)

    Touch up suspension

    Then replace doors and panels

Then body shop for major repairs

(Thoughts and recommendations would be nice can't afford a stupid high body shop)

    Get some nice XXR527s

Then maybe slip a turbo in :)

I just don't see the point in letting this car waste away
Be easy on me I'm going to do my best to save this car

A point in the right direction is always welcome as well.. Already started to make a budget. Where is the best place to buy suspension components? Also when I lift this thing up what should I look for being that it's an IX?

do a jack test to see what condition your VC is in.

Remove your front DS, check for signs of stripped splines going into the transfer case. Add molykote BR-2 to the splines (especially if they're dry.)

change or at least check fluids for everything under the car (front diff, rear diff, T.Case, trans.)

For the rust/body work: Replace anything you can, and buy a cheap mig welder.

Speedo issue: Probably the wiring or connector at the diff.

For parts, I usually buy from Steve at Blunttech. He's always on the ball and will reply to emails very quickly.

Just remember with suspension stuff that the iX is different than RWD cars.

suspension depends on what you want.. stock? drop-in-springs? coilovers?

it looks rough, but I hope you can clean it up. I hardly see anything but ratty ix's these days.

wheel choices you have to be careful with. without being familiar with that particular wheel I'm almost willing to be the offset is too low, unless you're going for the extreme poke look.

edit: just had a look. yeah, those wheels aren't going to fit. they will stick out like 2" past your fenders.
