I have to rewire the hatch wiring. It has a bunch of shorts and exposed wires. Fun

Well I fixed the wiring on one side of my hatch yesterday. The other side still needs to be dug into.
This is what was left of the wiring. When I opened the loom up, the wires just fell out.

BMW does sell replacement harnesses for the trunk, but they would amount to about $600-700 and still require soldering.
I just patched in some new lengths of wire with solder and shrink wrap, and wrapped them all back up again in a bundle. I know people say not to solder on cars, but in this case there was just no room for a big bundle of crimp connectors in the wiring sheathing. It has to fit in a very tight spot between the door and D pillar.

In other news, my squid chip was a no go. It popped an engine light, I had cruise control issues, and transmission issues with the auto trans. It wouldn't show me which gear it was in, or shift in sports mode, A mode, or M mode. Iv tried to contact Jesse at Sssquid, but there has been no reply yet. Some one ells has had some of the same problems with one of his chips lately.
I put the OEM chip back in and all the problems disappeared.

I am also confused about my DME, because I read that my car should have a 484 DME, but my car current has a 404 DME. I also know some one has oped the 404 up before because some of the folding tabs had been broken off.

So not much progress. The fact that I am working for my self and havent been getting many jobs for the right pay lately has set me back a lot. Plus I keep having bad luck like some ass hole cutting the cat off of my truck which set me back more then a few hundred.
I just put the m60b40 air intake parts (intake manifold, TB, MAF,) on my m60b30 and I am having a few issues, but the sound is great.
I think I pulled on the cable that connects to throttle body-traction control unit to hard and now the traction control light is on. I also have a check engine light on, which may or may not be related. The engine runs fine though.
I ordered a cone filter to fit the b40 MAF, and I am going to get my injectors rebuilt by OKinjectors. They so good work and have great customer service.
The front end suspension/steering components really need a rebuild, and the struts and springs need changing badly. We will see where the money comes from.

I had the injectors sent out for cleaning and a rebuild if needed. They were NASTY! I should have them back by the end of this next week. Then Ill see how well I can get this engine running. I still have to figure out the intake/filter section. I ordered a massive K&N cone filter that's about as big as I can fit. I want to see if I can stuff it in the original air box some how with some modification. Make it look more stock. I cant use the original air box and filter because the hose diameters are different and I dont feel like ordering or finding the b40 air box. I also like the sound of the intake with out the box muffling the sound.

Just got an email from OKInjectors. Turns out my spray patterns and flow rates were all over the place, and one of my injectors was stuck closed. I should have a good performance increase when I get them back and installed.

Awesome pick up man, I always enjoy reading through your threads. You always keep things very tasteful and totally functional. We just scored a 525i E34 Touring for my lady as her new DD and I can't wait to get it on the road (needs a new steering lock housing and ignition switch, both ordered and en route to my house). I don't doubt that I'll end up driving it more than she does haha. Looking forward to watching this build progress!

                      I love E34 tourings!
Had one a year ago, but traded it for an e34 sedan.
                      It's a nice car you've found :-)

Thanks man. This car is more work than I was planning on. The big problems right now are the sagging headliner and the pealing clear coat. Iv been so overwhelmed with truck and touring problems I havent wanted to work on anything for a while now lol
I have almost never driven this car. Ones on the way home from buying it, and then maybe one or two other times.
