BUT, I'm 100% going to get back into an E30 in 5 years, once I get going in what I want to do.
My best of both worlds plan:
I'm currently attempting to convince my pops to buy it so I can buy it back when I'm ready, and the odds are looking pretty good

Which is good and bad. Never thought I'd actually be able to do it, but it's to the point where it's a huge distraction (even though it's a distraction I enjoy).

I actually finished my undergrad two (?) years ago now. I'm headed to Indianapolis (around where I studied), to reconnect with the network of friends/musicians I have out there.
I have a degree in jazz guitar, so I'm pursuing professor opportunities and a bunch of other things in that field. But when it comes down to it, you really just have to go out and do it.
I have a decent job as a mechanic back here in PA, but it's a hometown go nowhere type of deal. So I can a) keep tinkering with cars and spend my money on e30s or b) move out, do what I like, and get into e30s again in a few years when I've settled in a new area/career.

How much are you planning to sell the ix for, if dad doesn't buy it? I am not asking for myself, I don't need another ix nor another E30, I am just curious to how much you think you can get for it.How to remove, install or convert to pop out windows

I met a dude at the gym the other day with a pretty nice E30M3, so I'm contemplating bringing the car out here with me to get involved in the small scene we have.
I'm hesitant because I really don't want to be stressed about the 25 y/o project car mentality. I still need to do the subframe, window motors, sunroof motor, lock cylinders, etc. Bunch of stuff that I don't want to get into for a long time.
My Scoob has been dead reliable, got 20mpgs towing an enclosed trailer with 3,000lbs of stuff in it 650 miles, so that's making me happy.
