I wish I had the displacement for a 300adv dur cam!

I picked up a "ported" Bimmerheads head with HD rockers and a 280/274 in it, freshly rebuilt. I'm hoping it peps up the midrange a bit.

Good look! I tried out some thinner and it seemed to work nicely. And I agree, it's either bright silver (like it looks stock) or polished.

Heidi is in for brain surgery.

The valve cover was squeaky clean underneath.

    The head, not so much.

this is the thread I was thinking about for cleaning the plastic. They use paint thinner, but an ingredient in paint thinner is usually acetone. There's a real difference though in how good it looks afterwards.

I like how the intake looks when its bare metal. I would do a contrasting color to the black of the valve cover.

    :ST1G: (how is this real?)

You should re-paint the valve cover. I think that improves the look of the engine bay so much by itself. And you can go over the hard plastic bits with an acetone mix, to really bring back the color of the plastic.

Do you have any plans to swap the diving boards?

This car is looking so good man. Good work
Thanks dude! This is the first time I've been really happy with the look of a car. When it works it really is just a pleasure to drive. When it doesn't at least it looks good when it's sitting on the side of the road haha.

I'll try that acetone, I'm going to detail/refinish everything when I have it all apart to do the head. And as for the valve cover, I have a wrinkle black powder coated one that I'm polishing the 'BMW' and lines on to throw on. Also at the powder coater is the ported intake mani, I'm still trying to decide on a color for that though. I've been tossing around silver/chrome ish colors. It costs too much to do a two stage or a clear so my options are limited.

I have bumpers and sliders, I don't really feel like swapping them, though. Bumpers need paint/trim, and anything involving a body shop is a nightmare to deal with, so that's normally a buzz kill.

Was nice out today so I scrubbed the hell out of the engine bay and gave her a good pressure wash. I think the dirt/grease protected everything underneath.

    After:

Also, got the car outside for a wider shot with the new wheels.

Thanks gents! The wheels were originally classified by 949 as bronze, and I definitely think they're a bit more gold than bronze. However, I think they sit nice against the Lachssilber.

Rob, the other wheels are in my garage still sittin' pretty.
