Why are you against the frankin pan? I know that the oil capacity is less than ideal for a 24v but you could run an oil cooler and that would increase your oil capacity. Do you not trust a welded pan? The only other thing I have been considering is getting a 24v XI pan and cutting it up and my IX pan and welding the IX diff mount on the XI pan, but I have not researched enough whether the XI pan will fit without modification or how much oil capacity a 24v XI pan holds. Either way I will be chopping the pan up and welding so no matter what of the two options I will be running a frankin pan.

The X5 trans and tc crosses my mind a lot, but I'm not 100% sure about it

    Yeah I saw that, nice!

Easiest would be using X5 3.0 5 speed trans and TC but then you'll loose the TC locking ability..

Yeah I'm going with a u jointed front drive shaft, also I'm not looking for arms that will bolt in, but for the arm that's the closet and easiest to modify. I actually just got done posting my plan to the 24v thread, lol

E34 arms wont work, they are too long.
Are you going with u-jointed front drive shaft?
    What trans and TC?

    Interesting! :)

Got some snow today!!!! Took Izzy out for a little bit of fun, still haven't gotten anything done to her, I've been thinking about 24v stuff to much and helping out my buddy with his 318i.

I did get some wethertech floor mats for christmas however!!!
    (Sorry for the shitty pic)

So heres what I've recently gotten for her:
    -Depo Smileys
    -HID's 5000k
    -German Engineering Keyless Entry
    -Distributor Cap/Rotor
    -New Plug Wires
    -New Plugs
    -Fuel Filter
    -318is Radiator
    -Black M3 Seats (Fronts)

I think thats about it, I just need to find the time to install all of it....

Anyways onto the 24v stuff, I've ditched the idea of using the fraken pan, and I've gone to using e53 X5 Parts. I need to pick up a 3.0 oil pan, front diff, and inner CV's. I'm going to try and modify e34, e46xi, or x5 motor arms and I need to make a bracket/adapter for the transfer case. The 6 speed isn't going to happen, but I'm still hopeful to figure out a solution for the steering rack.

Not sure, but I saw the very car for sale a couple of years ago and in the FS ad it said the TC was in good working order. So it was at least working a year or two ago.

that's crazy fortunate that you were able to find an entire drivetrain for that cheap! do you know the condition of the transfer case and whether it works or not?

I found it in pick a part in Stafford. I was in the yard and saw them putting a black e30 in, so I went to go check it out and it just happened to be an ix.

Project Izzy: The AWD Money Pit

So not a lot hasn't happened to Izzy her self, but I've got some parts on order and hopefully I can get some stuff done to her this weekend.

I did how ever paint the head light wipers, I still need to paint the rings around the headlights, though.

I did happen to go to the junkyard the other day and score some mint black ski pass seats. My buddy also said he'd let his mint black convertible seats for $160, so all in all no to bad. Now I just need to get some black door cards, thinking about taking the tan ones out of the parts car and try painting/dying them.

    Oh Also I found this.....

A 1991 325ix 5speed!!!!!!!!! Needless to say I'm a proud new owner of a 325ix drivetrain from the engine, front/rear diff, front and rear driveshaft, and of course the transmission and transfer case. The odometer showed 174,000 miles on it, but with e30s who knows..... Also I'm sure some of you are curious I got everything for $550+250 in labor so $800 all in. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it, I really wanna do a 24v swap, but with a spare engine..... who knows.

So nothing new with Izzy, but me and my buddy pb34 Finished stripping down the parts car (For sale thread can be found here).

I also got a chance to clean out Izzy's interior and also tested to see if my z3 floor mats fit (They kind of do).

Also got a little bit of snow back home and Izzy got to have some fun, Lexi however wasn't very pleased.

After everything cleared up she got to go see her sister, my friends 1991 325ix

Not very car related but I finally turned 21 this past week!!!!!!!!
