I drove her finally. I recently got some motivation to work on her again. I gotta fix some vacuum leaks, piece together an exhaust, and put my interior back together. We should be in business after that .
It started off with no power which was a super dead battery, so I added a jumper box. The starter slowly came to life, but I was missing spark and fuel. I had fuel pressure, but the injectors were pulsating. I found out my feed and return lines were mixed up. Next, the no spark issue was traced to a bad coil, and 173 dme. I threw my buddy's 380 dme and coil on which lead to instant start up. PimpinWalrus hooked me up with a good standing 173,and she starts up. I have a few issue left to address, but she should be ready for autox on the 23rd.
I thought you guys would get a kick out of my buddy's new plates for his e30.
Aside, from that, we have his rust under control, I'm almost done with wiring the engine.
Apparently I'm going to bimmerfest east, so crunch time is here. I've had family from out of town visit, so I lost some garage time. A few bits here and there will lead to a running e30. I'm helping my buddy with his e30 as well since the spring perch rusted out bad, and we found more rust. Nonetheless, the show much go on, so we can autox and go drift bashing.
This weekend I got some seat time at autocross in my buddy's mr2, and I can't wait to bring the e30. I got the brakes, rotors, stainless steel brake lines, driveshaft, and removed my bc racing rear spring adjusters to get rid of monster truck status. My m42 radiator and z3 shifter bits have made it in.
I finally got the motor in with the help of some friends. Now I have access to a lift to finish her up. Hopefully starting her soon along with helping my buddies getting their e30s running.
I like where this thread stands. I too am very fascinated by the Japanese car culture and oh so often dream of building up a Kanjo inspired e30.
Hell yeah man, I can't wait to scheme and make stuff for this e30. Gonna start off simple like a front splitter then who knows. She's a hoopty, and meant to be driven hard.
I had a few friends come and help knock a bunch of stuff out. What's completed consist of an assembled m20, brake booster/master cylinder, the clutch master/slave cylinder, and rebuilt brake calipers. Hopefully we can put the driveshaft back together today since it's giving us a problem.
