the exhaust radiation and coolant temp will still be the same, and if there is not enough airflow i.e. if youre sitting in slow traffic on a hot day everything under the hood simply gets hot. The airbox if ducted well means the engine breathes cooler air because you limit how much air from under the hood is ingested. it doesnt solve a heat soak issue it solves an IAT issue

As with most things, what digger said. It allows you to maintain all the port velocity and tuned length runner benefits while also mitigating IAT's.

Understood. I just didn't like the fact of open trumpets on a street car. Too high ait's and no filtration for the engine which is bad. Then you run socks or filters on the stacks and you lose power. Kind of a dumb setup if you ask me.

Now if you get more power, lower ait's, and a proper filtration while running the airbox setup, then it is the only way to go in my eyes.

With the kit can you maintain stock cruise control?

It's certainly incomplete, but definitely fun. I never had any serious issues, but I also didn't daily drive the car with open stacks, and had screens to prevent any big debris. Airbox fixes these things ;).

I'm planning on putting cruise back on the car. It is in no way tied to the ECU IIRC, and everything would fit back up (as long as my ducted solution for the filter doesn't get too bulky, still interested to see what Kam does). I will need to get new brackets cut locally to allow for mounting of the cruise throttle cable, in red below:

The rear bracket is pretty easily redone, but the bracket on the master link is going to require thought. There's not a whole lot of room when you move through its range of motion.

I just spend a long time going through this thread. How did I not see this before?

Great work, I love your documentation of everything!

I think 180whp is damn impressive.

Thanks! I try to be helpful.

I'm hoping to build a high compression 3 liter next year, should be fun!

Such a great build! Keep up the great work!

I'd pay to get my cluster converted that way!

Thanks. Definitely doable on your own, I think the parts were ~120. BavRest will also do everything for you + refurb your cluster if you're into that.

Put another 350 miles on the airbox. No rubbing on either end, everything held up great. Weather held up nicely at The Vintage as well, Hot Springs is a killer venue. Thanks to Reichart for the 19# injectors that will get me some fuel headroom, and Levent @ GPS for the stainless brake lines! Also looking at overhauling the cooling system as the car does like to creep a bit when the weather is warm.

Got the drone out for a bit.

Hey it was good meeting you the other day. They should be the 21# pink top injectors so even more headroom than 19s. I should have a picture or two of your car Ill be posting in the coming days once I get around to going through them all.
