From what ive heard, mostly from steve himself, the M42 wont fit! Its too tall [taller then the s14] I had looked into that back when my 318is got mashed up. Not only that, but i couldnt find a clean example of an 02

Looks nice steve, avoid apex'ing the strights

thanks joe, the m42 will fit but its not an easy swap. carl in lajolla did it but he said never again after it was done. too bad too because its reliable bulletproof cheap power. im scared ill pile this one up spinning on the straight so it wont see the track. ill drive the shit out of it on the street missing 3rd gear though

                That is truely awesome :thumbsup

Where did you source the parts for the new trunk floor, tail, ect? Looks like they are new. Or did they make them from scratch?

So what your trying to tell us is you started with a 2002 roof and a s14 and build one badass 02? :)

thanks man, the best thing about BMW is the fact they are making parts for all of us that love old stuff. mobile traditions is BMW's division commited to supplying parts for all the old school stuff. ive been selling a lot of this stuff to other 02 and e9 guys to finance this restoration. its actually turned into an business for me at this point. the bad part is all this stuff is spendy. but i guess you have to pay to have something you enjoy. also, the quality of the metal (fenders,1/4's etc) isnt what it was at one time. theyve been stamping these pieces out so long that im sure the dies arent what they used to be. i had to send back 3 quarter panels because of shitty quality. i finally settled for one that was just ok. this is part of the reason i opted to use the spray filler to get the perfect panels i was after. at least its all rust free metal. id prefer no filler at all but this is the best we could do.

This car makes me hungry for a Big Mac. Its like the 02 was dipped in special sauce and Supersized. I like it.
                            tasty

Incredible project. I love that the body panels are still available from BMW brand new. Your attention to detail is outstanding. I'd eat of your subframes.

Let's drive fast and have fun.

Very nice. Its good to see you are doing it right. I like the choice of color too. Close to Johns Inka. Ive never really seen Colorado and Inka side by side. Colorado is slightly lighter than Inka correct? Or creamier. What wheels are you going to use?
Very good score on the seats and Ive been drooling over Al's wool headliners.
Cant wait to see the final pix.
