Originally posted by vt.bimmerVery nice. Its good to see you are doing it right. I like the choice of color too. Close to Johns Inka. Ive never really seen Colorado and Inka side by side. Colorado is slightly lighter than Inka correct? Or creamier. What wheels are you going to use?
Very good score on the seats and Ive been drooling over Al's wool headliners.
Cant wait to see the final pix.

What's to be said that hasn't already been said?
This is EXACTLY what I want to do to the vert, and eventually to an 02 as well.
I hate to ask this question, but it's sort of important to all of us nitpickers and anal rententive assholes out there that dream often of doing something like this....
what's the rough ballpark of the cost of this? Your example is a perfect one because you replaced literally everything except the roof - and you did it all right. I'm especially interested in the plated bolts and powdercoating.
I really want to do this to my vert in the fall, but I'm wary of the price tag

then i went back to the same place with a huge pail and asked what the minimum was and he said 120.00 per lot.so i guess you can back up with a dumptruck full (kidding) and as long as its all the same plating its 1 lot. they just throw it all in together. note that i have a tumbler and tumbled all my hardware and brought it in clean and rustfree. you have to get a tumbler. they are awesome. shit comes out looking like new stainless.
powdercoating isnt bad either but in that case i also bead blast all my own stuff. i got one of those big blast cabinets from eastwood and its paid for itself building my e30 and this car. the picture you see of the struts and subframes and valve cover, plenum etc was 300.00 and i think that included 2 sparco bars for mtriples e30 and mine . but im not 100% on that. could have been another batch. i dont really know if powdercoating is the way to go on suspension pieces. some say yes and some say por 15 is better. powdercoating is sure a lot easier but we will see how it holds up.this car wont be a trailer queen , i plan on driving the shit out of it. it will see both coasts when its done. avi and i will take it x country at 7k

No shit? I thought Johns was Inka this whole time. Sounds like you may be finished before him and in less time. I havent been on the FAQ in forever so Im not sure of his progress.
$20k isnt bad and Im sure anyone else who undertakes a project of this sort will spend around $30k depending on what they do and dont do themselves.
Good to hear it wont be a trailer queen too. No sense in that.
